iSync and Palm Treo 660 will not sync.

Yesterday I noticed that iSync was not copying contacts from my 10.5 install to my phone. (I'm not sure if contacts were being copied from the phone to the computer.) After screwing around with it for a while, I used the Reset Sync History in iSync prefs, enabling the "Erase data on device then sync" option, hoping that would force it to copy something to the phone, but after I did that, the iSync conduit times out, reporting "Timeout waiting for Sync Engine" in the log.

I know there have been a lot of problems with syncing in general under Leopard, but I haven't seen this specific issue reported, so I wanted to throw my hat in to the ring, both to make sure the dev team is working on this, and in the vain hope that someone has a workaround. 😝

I, too, have the problem. I installed Leopard (OS 10.5) on my Mac. Now I am having sync problems. I use iSync and a USB dock. New contacts make it from Treo to Address Book, but new contacts in Address Book do not make it to Treo. I get the following in the log if this helps:

Loading “Apple”
Conduit “iSync Conduit” version 3.0.0
Sync type is Fast
iSync Conduit starting 12/4/07 2:11:54 PM
iSync Conduit: received NULL message, disconnecting... 12/4/07 2:13:32 PM
OK iSync Conduit

For what it's worth the problem extends to older Palm devices like my crummy Zire 21 (which I basically use to ferry calendars and contacts back and forth between work and home).

Disabling the contacts within iSync enabled calendars to sync correctly.

Disabling calendars and enabling contacts did not work on my system, and I tried both the entire contact set and several subgroups that I had defined.

Although Apple's change to sync services probably hasn't helped, I can't but think that the fact that Palm couldn't be bothered to update anything about the Mac OS X desktop and hot sync manager for several years is largely to blame.

I have a Treo 700p, which does not seem to be singled out yet. This was not syncing either ical or contacts. (Don't synch anything else.) I was able to synch ical with contacts disabled, but nothing I have tried allows me to restore my now erased contacts. After finally getting iCal to sync, i had duplicate appoints for just about everything. The crappy new iCal crashed about every 4 times i deleted a dupliate event then restarted automatically? Happy Happy Joy Joy.

My 700p was syncing just fine under Tiger and it continued to sync just fine under Leopard until I decided to do the firmware updater (on the 700p) to try to fix its constant crashing and random resets. I did the update to the Treo on Dec. 31st and haven't been able to sync since, I eventually discovered that I'm getting the "NULL" message that has been described here. I'm going to try syncing just the calendar to see if that works, at least I'll be half way there. I've tried so many things to get this working that its eaten up hours and hours of my time. I've reinstalled the HotSync software from a fresh download, I've done several hard resets of the Treo, I tried the "reset device" option in iSync, I've disabled and re-enabled Palm OS syncing in iSync, etc., etc., etc.

Turning off the contacts syncing has allowed me to sync my calendars again, thank goodness.

I went into Address Book and selected all of my contacts at once, then did an export to a vcard. I sent the large vcard file to my 700p over BlueTooth and it took it into Contacts and finally I have all of my contacts back on my phone.

For now I've found a workaround. It'd be nice if this would actually get fixed soon though.

I have a Treo 700p, and I too suffered from lost calendar and contact info. Unlike most of you, I need my contact info for dialing everyone I know.

Although I haven't done it yet, no one has suggested another potential fix (which I will work on this weekend).

I will revert one of my old macs to Tiger, sync it to my .Mac, then use it to reload my Treo.

I wonder if apple is working on this slowly so that Treo owners switch to the iPhone? I only need my Treo to work long enough until the 3G iPhone is released.

Seems like this problem is not going away 😟
Ever since updating my old G4 PowerBook to 10.5 in February I was aware that my syncing was problematic, but imminent arrival of new MBP meant that I didn't try to fix it until now.
Handheld devices are Motorola v500 mobile phone over BlueTooth (syncs fine!) and a Sony Clié T675 running PalmOS (won't sync in either direction).

Forgive the geriatric handhelds but I swore I wouldn't replace either until I could do so with just one device; when the iPhone came out without voice-dialling, and tied to a phone company with whom I decline to do business, I was gutted.

So now, in common with many of you folk, I've now arrived at a completely empty address book on the Clié. The workarounds on offer seem a bit clunky (but at least they work!), so I'm wondering whether anyone, Apple or Palm, has any interest in providing a fix. I suppose they'd all rather I bought new hardware...
