Linux drivers for Airport

I'm trying to get Linux to recognize my wireless card.

Needless to say, it's not.

I'm using ubuntu, 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon.

Suggestions?

Macbook, Black, Mac OS X (10.4.8), Dual Core Processor. 2GHz. 1 G RAM. Intel GMA 950.

Your MacBook's Airport card is probably using a Broadcom chipset. I haven't found any documents on how to make it work with Gutsy, but the instructions for Feisty should work:

Note that the procedure is not necessarily easy. If you have questions, you should probably ask them in a dedicated Linux forum; most people here know OS X better than Linux.

Hi,

You're welcome! I wasn't trying to make a correction. Just pointing out there are a couple different Wi-Fi radios that may be encountered on a Macbook.

I just found that handy Ubuntu help page today. I downloaded "Gutsy" live DVD version a couple days ago, and it booted up nicely on the Macbook C2D directly from the DVD (minus support for the Atheros radio). It actually looks pretty good.

If one didn't want to pay extra for an office productivity suite from Apple or Microsoft, the Open Office suite included with Gutsy would probably suffice for most every-day tasks.
