Typing problem

Ever since I switched to OSX I have used 2 of those new white keyboards and I'm having all sorts of problems wiith getting double characters when typing.

Now I know I'm a very bad 3 or 4 finger typer, but I never had that problem before.

I type pretty fast for only using 2-4 fingers and I'm getting results like this:

whhy amm I gettting doublee characters?

What amm I doing wrong? I somehow can't fiigure out what triggers the double character prroblem.

I've played around with the key repeat ratee, but that doesn't change anything -- the problem seems to come from somewhere ellse.

Thanks for any pointers in whatt to change.

I've not changed keyboards because of this one being a PowerBook G4, so I'd have to go through Apple, which I could because of my extended AppleCare plan. But the thing is, there's no guarantee it's the keyboard from what I can tell since some are changing them and it's little if any help. This keyboard has felt too easy from the start, but I think it's more than just a keyboard just the same. For example, I can not Make the thing double type. It is worse on "r" and "t" than other keys, but there are more troublesome keys than just those two. But I can hammer, hit softly or whatever those two most troublesome keys and I can not make it double type. It happens during the normal course of typing. Another thing I've noticed is when moving to another window it will never enter the first key I type, it always starts with the second and I have to go back and add the first one again. This is a troubling issue with this nearly new computer than I can not reliably duplicate or pinpoint, and I'm not reading or hearing of any cures that satisfy my mind are reliable. The one Apple store I visited responded with they had never heard of such a thing, so it wasn't much using hanging around there. The disc drive is also faulty as there are only one or two brands of media I've found that it can "calibrate" for and read, and I've tried many. But, that's another day I guess.

Mac Medic, can you please post the model number of the keyboard (should be on the back)?

I have a black keyboard, Apple Pro Keyboard model M7803, that works fine. Its design looks identical to the one in the picture. None of the new white keyboards have worked for me (I've tried four of them).

As in earlier posts, I reiterate that this cannot be JUST a hardware problem -- it's the interaction of particular keyboards with the software. A keyboard-controlling or USB-handling .kext (kernel extension) is a likely suspect, but no Apple literature describes the keyboard handling system well enough for me to figure out which one it could be.

Are any of you getting replacement keyboards like
this from Apple? It has the USB ports at each end
instead of the back. I received one like this and it
seems to have cured the double character problem for
me.

That keyboard is not available at the Apple Store, Bmer. Would I have to mail mine in to get that kind of a replacement?
