Adding text annotation in Preview.app

Preview in Leopard seems to be missing the ability to add text annotation to a pdf like in Tiger. Yeah, I know annotations can appear to the left side of the pdf, but I want them right on the document.

Anybody see how to add text directly to a pdf with Preview in Leopard?

Unbelievable that this feature is gone. I tried the demo of PDFPen (Yahoo or Google it) but I am upset to pay for something that I used to have built-in (granted, it looks like PDFPen can do more than Preview used to). I am getting really tired of buying back features in Leopard through utilities like this. Sorry, that was not constructive, but seriously, so far best part of Leopard has been the box it came in!

My speculation on why it might have been removed was moderated out. If it were me, I would just explain why the feature was pulled out in Leopard.

I believe Adobe has a patent on annotating text in a PDF file. I have enclosed 2 links below for your viewing pleasure. The ISO 32000 standard, which defines basic PDF file format, has recently been voted on and passed. I hope to see text annotation show up in 10.5.3 (it's not in 10.5.2).

Shame on apple for tricking its customers into believing that Preview had better annotation features on Leopard than on Tiger !!!

This is CLEARLY not the case!!! The option where you could add text boxes to the PDF itself which would be then printed with the original document is FAR SUPERIOR!!!

In my opinion, annotating things in Preview is a JOKE! You make an annotation, then you CAN'T DELETE IT ! I mean what kind of bs is this?

If you happen to make 2 annotations which are too close to each other the text boxes, that now are FORCED to appear at the margin of the text, OVERLAP rendering them USELESS!

"But hey, I can just delete the one overlapping or move it somewhere else! Can I...?"

NO MATE YOU CAN'T, gotta start it all over again!

300+ features my @$$, how about 300 - 1 ???

It is ridiculous that you can't make notes right on the PDF, but note (no pun intended) that you CAN delete or move existing notes - it's just totally unobvious how...

You have to set the sidebar to show Annotations (from its popup menu at the bottom of the sidebar), select the note *in the sidebar* and then hit delete, or go to the now-selected note icon and move it.
