Wireless card For Powermac G4 MDD

HI. I have a Powermac G4 Mirror Door that never had a wireless card installed at purchase. It was always hard wired for internet. I have moved it, and want to access my wireless network from the domed Airport Extreme base station I use. First off, how do I determine what card, if any , that this computer can take. Second, if it can, where can I get it. Third, is there an article on how to install such an item. I have never opened this computer. And fourth, is there anything else I would need to do to make it work with the base station. The powermac is running the latest update of Tiger. Thanks

1. Use the information in this article to determine which type of G4 you have. The FW800 models use the AirPort Extreme card, while all other models take the AirPort card except for the original G4, which has no AirPort slot.

2. AirPort Extreme cards are available from Apple; third-party vendors offer regular AirPort cards or PCI cards.

3. See here for AirPort card installation instructions. To install a PCI card, consult the card's documentation.

4. Software installation may be needed.
