QuickTake

Bear with me it has been a long time since I used QuickTake but... as I remember them the images are either Jpegs (which almost any current image program can use) or a form of Quicktime file which I think will still be open-able in OSX.

But do you need to move them to a current model mac?

And what are you wanting to "import" them into???

The simplest way to standardize your photos is to open them with jpegview and save them in the file format of your choice. Here is a site to download the software if you do not have it:

Have you tried saving them to a zip disk and then moving the files to a newer computer? The files should open just fine. Our QT 150s and 200s do not require any special treatment for jpegview to open them. More details might be needed to offer you more specific ideas for mass "importing."

Appaloosa mm, I have a camera that was an original 100. It got its internals upgraded to 150. I have both install floppies (100 & 150), but, unfortunately they are for Windows. I looked at the tucows download you posted, but, don't understand it. Do you have, or know a source for, the QuickTake Install 150 +for Macintosh+?

I believe we have one each of all the quicktake cameras but only two original boxes and install disks. I will check and post back.

Found the QT 150 box with the install disks in my son's room. Click on my profile and email me. I have not checked the disks to see if they are still readable.

Hi, did you ever resolve this issue? I have some old QuickTake pictures that I am no longer able to open (my OS is 10.5.1), and have been unable to find much on the 'net. I actually have the old QuickTake camera software, but can't run it on my machine. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have been sick and busy so I apologize for delays in testing and responding. I was able to finally make a backup copy of the QuickTake 150 disks to my G3. Now they have to make it to a G4 with internet without file corruption for further testing. Once I make that leap, I should have a report. Otherwise, the best option is to find a user group and use old computers to make jpg files that will become universal. That much is easy but it requires the old equipment. What is hard to predict is how far forward the QuickTake software will work.

Email me if you like. It may not speed me up but at least you will be on the list of people who want to revive their older cameras. My son took it on as a hobby for a while and then moved on. Maybe he will move back after basketball season.

Thank you for the follow up. I've almost given up on being able to do this on my equipment. My last attempt was to try installing the QuickTake software under Classic on a Wallstreet Powerbook running OS 10.2.8. The software would not install, however, and I'm not sure whether it is compatible with OS 9 (my Classic OS) in any case.

I think I still have my OS 8 CD, so I suppose I could try rolling the OS on the Wallstreet back to 8 and try installing the QuickTake software again. If anybody knows the system requirements for the QuickTake, I would like to learn that info.
