Verizon Juke Music Transfer

I got the Verizon Juke but I can't seem to figure out how to transfer mp3s to the phone. I connect via the supplied USB cable, I can see the phone as a drive "telechips" for some reason. I copy the mp3s to the music folder, but after I disconnect nothing shows up in the music player on the phone. I've seen a few posts on other sites where people say it is simple just drag the files and it works. But it isn't working for me. Does anyone have this phone and made it work, or have any ideas about what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Did you try to open the telechips folder in finder to see if had subfolders for Music, Photos, Videos, etc.
May be not only must the mp3's be moved to the phone but they need to be tucked away into the right place for the phone to use them.

To see if they moved at all, you can probably view in the phone settings how much space is taken in the memory and determine if they're there or not.

I don't have the phone that you speak of so my thinking should be verified by Verizon Wireless.

Good luck

Yeah they do have a music folder which is where I've been putting the files. I tried it other places as well but nothing has worked out. I did check the memory status on the phone's settings and it shows that the memory was used so something transfered there, but the phone still wont play them

Thanks for the suggestions, let me know if you have any other thoughts.

Thanks,

Good News! There is a way! You can't just drag and drop A SONG into the MUSIC folder, you must first make a folder (in the MUSIC folder, of course) with the ARTIST NAME, then a subfolder with the ALBUM NAME, then put the song(s) in that folder. If your Juke STILL won't see them, then run this script each time you are DONE loading your songs (NOT before!): http://www.fuzzymallard.com/download/Clean%20and%20Eject.scpt (option+click on the link to download). Apparently, on top of demanding organization, Juke's sometimes don't like the .DS_Store and .Trashes files that Mac OS tends to create, so, that script deletes them and unmounts your Juke for you! Thanks to "fuzzymallard" from the LiveJournal.com discussion board for the script! Hope this helps! Happy Juke-ing!

I am having a similar issue with my juke. I got mine, got it up and running and decided to throw some music on it. i loaded about 10 songs on it, ejected it, and no problems. listened to some tunes. THEN, i decide to put more music on it. went thru the process. went to play some tunes. Nothing. the juke won't recognise a single song. all 0's.
I went to the verizon store and had them reset my phone. I got home and the exact same scenario happened. no problems on the initial loading of music, but the problem arises when adding or changing. Who knows. Verizon's tech support was about enough for me to just pay my way out of their contract. Disconnected 4 times during transfer from the tech support guys who basically have only a stack of manuals, to the tech guys.

Oh, and I tried the dstore trash script. unsuccessful with my situation.

Wife and I just got Jukes. The main reason was the Verizon guy said it would play unprotected AAC files. As with some here, I was able to do my first file folder transfer just fine. (223 Johnny Cash songs.) But after that, nothing but trouble. The next artist folder I tried to download had 50 songs in it. Only 3 songs appeared on the Juke under that artist's name, Norah Jones. I discovered many, though, appeared in the "unknown" category. Some songs didn't download. The "unknown" category acted like some sort of unpredictable catchall. No matter what artist I tried to transfer to the Juke, some number of songs would go into the unknown folder. I couldn't keep an artist's songs together in that artist's folder. When I tired of fooling around with this, I trashed everything so I could start over. Well, after that the Juke's music folders cleared, but the memory stayed full. I can't figure out how to really clear it and restore the memory.

The fuzzymallard script thing didn't work for me, either, but then again I don't know where to download it to, or how exactly to "run" a script.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi Jacob and All,

I bought 2 jukes, one had no problem, the other would not show the music on the phone, had it replaced at Verizon, same thing. BUT I just got it to work! You have to use the Sync Music option the first time or the Juke won't recognize the music. Why one phone worked out of the box and the other did not - I have no clue. But I've added, deleted, added more and have had no further issues with the phone. Give this a try because it worked for my JUKE that was musically challenged!

**Be sure the cables are "not" connected and then:

1 - Open the JUKE, go to Menu, select #2 Sync Music. You'll be prompted "Connect the cable to PC".
2 - Connect the usb cable to your phone and then the Mac.
3 - TELECHIPS mounts on the desktop.
4 - Open the TELECHIPS drive, Open the Music folder, drag your music in.
5 - Eject the TELECHIPS drive from the desktop and check your music list on the phone.

The JUKE automatically recognized the songs, artists, albums and genres!

I am having, what sounds like, the same problem. I was able to drag-and-drop files onto the Juke and listen perfectly the first occasion. Since altering the files on the phone in Finder, the phone will not acknowledge any music files when I try to play them. However, the phone's music memory is full.

I have tried the script. It didn't work. I tried the Sync Music thing as well, but is it necessary to do the Sync Music thing the very first time you transfer songs? Should I go get another phone?

Any ideas?

So I think I figured it out. Here is what finally worked for me:
1. Go to Menu->Music->Sync Music on phone before plugging in
2. Plug cord into phone, then computer
3. All music files must be in the music folder on the Juke, and they must NOT be in folders
4. When done adding files, drag Juke drive to the trash in Finder, unplug cord from computer, then from phone

Hope it works for everyone else.
