Verizon Juke Music Transfer

I got the Verizon Juke but I can't seem to figure out how to transfer mp3s to the phone. I connect via the supplied USB cable, I can see the phone as a drive "telechips" for some reason. I copy the mp3s to the music folder, but after I disconnect nothing shows up in the music player on the phone. I've seen a few posts on other sites where people say it is simple just drag the files and it works. But it isn't working for me. Does anyone have this phone and made it work, or have any ideas about what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I just picked up a Juke today. The TELECHIPS drive is mounting on my desktop and I can see the Playlists and Music folders, but when I copy files into either of the folders (I've tried both), no music shows up. I created artist and album folders per another user's recommendation and that didn't work either. The music memory on the phone shows HD space being used, but no files are showing up in the music browser. Grr.

Hi Cabby,

You need only do the Sync Music thing once and then from there on in you can just plug the usb cable into the computer. You don't need to create any folders inside the music folder.

Originally I had the phone replaced at Verizon and had the same problem with the replacement, but after some trial and error I got it to work by doing Sync Music once and then I didn't need to do it again. A friend bought a JUKE yesterday and had the same problem, so I ran through the steps on his phone and it's working fine now too.

Give it another try and hope it works.

I'm having a similar issue... I got a juke a few days ago, and though I've not really officially had a problem playing the songs, when I copy songs onto the phone, the “my music” folder on the phone shows up with two copies of each song, one normal, one with a “._” and then the track number (the copies of the song that do work are not numbered).

I've not been able to get the script to work thus far.

This is not as much a serious problem as it is a nuisance, since I am able to listen to my music, just shuffle becomes quite useless.

might there be a better music management software to rip music from CDs? iTunes might be screwing things up here.

Hey Guys,

Had the same problem all of you are having and none of the solutions here worked for my juke. But I did figure it out and now it works great. So if none of the above worked for you, here's what I did.

1. Plug in the juke to the mac (it will show up as "telechips" as usual"
2. Go to "Applications"
3. Go to "Utilities" Folder
4. Go to "Disk Utility"
5. In the "Disk Utility" window select the "1.9 GB SAMSUNG SCHU4..." drive
6. Select the "Partition" tab
7. Under "Volume Scheme" change the drop down menu to say "1 Partition"
8. Select "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" from the "format" pull down.
9. Click the "Partition" button at the bottom of the window. (this will partition the drive and allow your mac to better connect to it. It will also delete any songs you currently have on it, so you will have to readd them)
10. Eject the disk from finder (drag it to the trash)
11. Unplug you juke
12. Plug you Juke back in.
13. Now the newely partitioned drive will show up as "Telechips" as normal and you can drag your mp3, aac, or wmv files into the "Music" folder
14. Eject the drive from finder, unplug your Juke and enjoy your new music.

no need to do this everytime you add music. After you do it you can just plug in the Juke, drop in files, and eject.

I wouldn't suggest doing this method if you ever plan to add music to your juke from a pc as it created a partition for with mac drives, but if you have a mac and that's where your music is, you are ok.

let me know if this helps anyone.

Hello,

I did this process and it worked for some files. Of course, the songs I've downloaded via iTunes will not transfer because they are protected. Any idea how to get this music onto the Juke?

Also, I still have the problem of seemingly "double" files being transferred. One is actually the working file and I don't know what the other is. As someone mentioned earlier.... the one that doesn't work has a ._ before the name of the song. Then, the one that does work just lists the song. So, it appears I have 22 songs on my Juke but it's really only 11.

For the heck of it, I tried to change the filename extension from "m4p" to "m4a" -- which are the files that work.

This is so frustrating. Verizon basically told me they don't support Macintosh Operating Systems. What a drag. We can't get the iPhone and can't seem to make other things work. Are we just forced to have a phone AND an iPod?

Any suggestions would be great!
Thanks

I too have had some difficulties with my new Juke. My first issue is that my computer does not see my Juke every time I plug it in. I discovered that if you try to look at what music is on the Juke while it is plugged in it will automatically disconnect and then tell you that you have disconnected improperly. After that the computer will not see my Juke no matter what steps I go through before plugging it in, including turning everything off. That is only one scenario though. There have been other things that just seem really touchy to me, and every time it ends with no recognition of the device. And yes *when I am able* I am properly deleting the device by dragging it to the trash.

Secondly I cannot figure out how to delete music from my Juke. When I do get Telechips I can put music on but not take music off. I drag it from telechips to the trash but after I delete the device from the computer the songs are still on my phone.

As for songs from iTunes you have to copy the mp3s from iTunes to the desktop and then from there drag them to telechips. I discovered this when I tried to drag something directly from iTunes and froze everything up resulting in the computer not seeing the device at all again.

The only thing that cures the recognition problem seems to be time. If I wait a day then Voila! my computer will see the device again. I don't get it. I am going to try the latest advice about going into utilities as soon as my phone and computer "recover" from this latest round of attempts.

I'm about ready to pull my hair out. Tried everything and can't get it to work.

did the partition thing, tried folders, drag and drop into music, nothing!!!

eventually i can get the name of the song to show up when i change the format to mp3...but it only shows the title. there's no song behind it. it's so bizzarre!

I didn't realize this would be so hard! Anything anyone can do to help me?!?!?!?
