MACBOOK PRO getting error (after re-purchasing the 2 dollar 802.11n enabler) on Leopard
Tried to install and it tells me cannot install on this hard drive
Help!!!!!
If you have Leopard installed, the enabler must be included in the install because I followed the directions listed on that page...
+Before purchasing the 802.11n Enabler software, please check to make sure that your Mac does not already have the 802.11n enabler already installed.+
+Open Network Utility (found in the Applications > Utilities folder)+
+Under the Info Tab, choose Network Interface (en1)+
+In the section "Model: Wireless Network Adapter," if it says (802.11a/b/g/n), you already have the 802.11n enabler installed. If it says (802.11a/b/g), you do not have the 802.11n enabler installed.+
I looked and mine says a/b/g/n so its already installed and I didn't download that enabler. You may way want to try uninstalling it. Hope that helps, good luck
edit: i have leopard installed as well, forgot to mention that.
I think apple has big problems with its implentation of n wireless. I have a 2 day old MBP running Leopard. It has the a/b/g/n enabled but when i used it with a Buffalo n finity router it was about 10% as fast as an xp machine on the same network. When I put the router into CG only mode it solved the issue and i was at least able to get normal G speed downloads/page renditions
I think this is bevcaseu the N isnt working properly with your router so if you select N only you are not going to get any conection at all. In theory if they cant connect with N they should default to G but what seems to be happeneing is that they try unsuccessfully to limp along at a bad N rate . Solution is to switch the router onlyto BG only or not imp;lent N on the mac until Apple wakes up to the problem and solves it.
Checked my MBP and n is not installed. Got an Airport extreme with the n enabler installation disk. I've installed the disk, says successful, but how do you switch or implement the n enabler software. Bit of a novice not sure what are the next steps. Checked network utility and still shows only 802.11 a/b/g.
I'm running Leopard on a MBP 17". I would like to run n as need the range... can anyone help ?
