FLASH AN X600

I don't know about the possibility of flashing that particular card. The fact that there isn't a Mac version of the card could make things difficult.

Nevertheless, you would be unable to use it in your B&W. It is either AGP or PCI-Express. Neither of which the B&W can use.

The highest Radeon that I've heard of being flashed for the B&W was a 9250. Other than that, the best you can get is a Radeon 9200 Mac Edition.

The 9500 & 9700 will not work in the B&W. I don't believe there is a PCI version of those.

Biagio, the X600 is a 16x PCI card.
The B&W has a 2x PCI slot.
The X600 is not backwards compatible to the 2x PCI standard, so Thomas is right, it won't work.

If you really want to flash a PC 9200, choose the 128MB PowerColor 9200 with 8 VRAM chips (4 on each side). This is the best one for flashing, but I gave up because they are very hard to find up here.

I'm new to macs. I've seen several posts on flashing pc video cards for macs. How does one go about doing this. Sorry if this is dumb question but I'm trying to learn.

Hi Biagio !

From my experience, anything OVER 128 MB vram is overkill on the B&W, even with a 1.1GHz G3 processor (that's primarily why I moved up to a DA G4- the 133 MHz bus)....

The extra 33Mhz makes a huge difference in gaming for me, along with the 9800 Pro......

2GHz G4 processor upgrade coming soon.......
