Accounts preference pane will not open

When I try to open the Accounts preference pane in system preferences it says "Loading Accounts..." in the header bar but nothing happens. If I again select the Accounts icon the preference pane goes blank. I have no idea when this started because I don't need to access this pane often. How do I gain access to my account setups?

I've got the same problem although I know whats caused it dont know how to fix it. I linked a Mac into our Active Directory which created a local user, for some reason the Mac didn't like this account. It does not show up in NetInfo the only trace i've got of the account is in the /Users directory and I can still log in as the user. If I know this account is whats caused the error how can I remove all traces of the account?
Ginny, this may help you out as you may have a corrupted user account which has caused the problem although might not be able to see it in the usual places. Check and see if there is a user home directory in /Users which does not appear in NetInfo to see if we have the same issue?
