Yahoo mail can't send - Outgoing server "(null)" failed

I can not send ONLY from MY Yahoo email address. When I try to send a message is says "Outgoing Server '(null)' failed."

I have tried changing my password to one without numbers or characters, deleting the account and re-adding, restoring the iPhone. Nothing.

Here is the wierd thing: any other Yahoo account works just fine. My wifes yahoo address works perfectly, I created a new one and it works perfectly as well. It is just my address. Has anyone else had this problem?

Same problem here again. What I thought earlier had solved it is now working only sporadically -- so I'm back to square one. I don't know whose problem this is, but I'm surprise that there is no mention of it anywhere in Apple or Yahoo support literature. For now, I'll just keep using POP to get my Yahoo email while continuing to monitor this thread until someone finds a solution.

I spooke to Apple about this. They said to use the other email setting and manually enter the POP and SMTP servers, which works but it downloads all spam as well, making it useless.

So, you can go into your Yahoo BizMail account and choose for all Spam to be immediately deleted. The downside of this is that some good email is mistaken as spam and you'll never see that.

They also said if enough people tell them about the problem, which you can do here, then they'll fix it. http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

Good luck

Thanks, I did as you suggested and reported the problem via Apple feedback.

For now, I'll continue to use POP and SMTP. I don't have the problem with unfiltered spam coming through because, if I remember correctly, I was able to set the Yahoo Mail POP settings so that suspected spam is kept in the junk folder and not downloaded by the handheld. (I did this a couple of years ago when I got my Palm Treo, so I don't recall exactly what I did, but spam is not a problem on the iPhone when I set it through POP.)

So using POP is not a huge sacrifice, it's just nice to be able to get access to other Yahoo mail folders as you can do via the IMAP setting. Thanks and cheers...

I just got my iPhone this weekend and I am getting the server("null") error issue with my Yahoo bizmail account as well. I have reported the issue via the feedback link provided but was wondering if anyone else had more definitive information on if and when this is going to be fixed!? This type of functionality with my small business mail account was a huge part of the purchase decision for me.

Is this still working for you? I have not been able to get my iPhone to send mail from my yahoo biz mail account,... it just sits in my outbox and keeps trying to send. Did you have to delete the account and re-add it for this to work? And when you say the full bizmail address do you just mean "name@bizname.com" or is there more to it than that? Any response would be greatly appreciated!

This is the "feedback" I sent through one of the links provided up this chain. Please follow so we can get his bug ironed out soon.

"I find it really inappropriate that Apple is not fixing this problem ASAP. Too many people trying to conduct business through Yahoo's Biz email accounts has been reporting this problem for months!!! as you can find from googling this problem and Apple knowing it has not fixed it?
On top of the inconvenience is the time spent trying to fix this problem only to find that it is an iPhone bug!

I'm really frustrated with this issue so please help out the iPhone-Yahoo Biz mail community!!!"

I found that the "iPhone Mail Setup Assistant" was helpful in setting up my email account but was still unable to send email.

However, after looking at some of the other discussions on this topic, made a setting change in my email account ( _ @sbcglobal.net) under Advanced. I turned the SSL outgoing setting to "off".

This simple change now clears my iPhone to send email. And, in reference to other comments, is unaffected by use of the Safari icon.

With a photo attachment, my iPhone takes something less than a minute to complete the send, which it announces with a "rushing" audio sound.

Best Wishes
