Midisport 2x2 is not recognized

When I plug the Midisport straight into Macbook USB slot, it is not recognized (no lights etc).
Testing, as I have a second midisport also, the same thing. Both come alive with Dell laptop so they are not broken. On the other hand, mice, keyboard etc function through these Macbook ports, so they also seem not to be broken.

So would this be a question of 'too low USB power' in Macbooks to power some peripherals such as Midisport? I wonder what to do to get MIDI working.

Another thing is that M Audio has not yet updated the driver for Leopard. So I have installed the latest Tiger driver. I believe though that this is a separate problem.

I am running Leopard with a Midisport 4x4. It is running with an older driver, I think it is Ver2.2, that's what AudioMidi setup states anyway.

I tried to install a more recent driver and Leopard would not recognize my Midisport. I then ran an uninstall of the most current driver and went back to my 2.2 driver. All my Midi gear is recognized and working great.

Good Luck,.........

Mr McRiff, could you post some detailed instructions on how to install this fix? I got as far as Deleting the "M-Audio Firmware Loader" folder in the library folder after that I'm clueless. After that it says your suppose to install the "MidiSportLoader" from the installer package. What installer package? and how do you in install from the package? Your help would be appreciated.

thanks,

I wonder if anybody who has installed the namedfork driver has a PPC machine? From the forum posts here, it looks like almost everybody has an Intel machine.

After following the installation instructions, I see the lights come back on the MidiSport 2x2 box, and AudioMIDI Setup sees the device, but none of the programs I usually use with MIDI can detect any info from it. Any similar situations out there?

Thanks!

You're probably looking in the wrong library folder. You do NOT want the library folder that's under your user/

If you're logged on as administrator, I guess the easiest way to find it is double click the icon for your computer (MacIntosh HD unless you've renamed it) then open the library folder and you'll find it.

in technical lingo you want the folder that's /Library and NOT the one that is: /Users/Yourusername/Library

Machim,

I had the same problem your having and then I scrolled down to the heading that says "Downloads" and realized that I was downloading the wrong file.

You need to download the installer under "Downloads": (see below)

"Downloads

*----->Installer: MidiSportLoader-11-dl.pkg.zip (13KiB zip)*
*MD5 (MidiSportLoader-11-dl.pkg.zip) = a7038b4ba93a7b8a0e8689bfa679cd50*
*Note: the installer will download the firmware before installing, so it requires an internet connection"*

Good Luck!
