Keyboard randomly stops working after Leopard Install

Hey Everyone.. I see a few threads already but after installing Leopard my keybaord randomly just stops working.. The trackpad works fine but the keyboard goes completely dead.. Caps lock light is unresponsive.. I have found covering the speakers makes the backlights come on etc but does not effect the keyboard starting to work etc.

Apple.. There are multiple people talking about this.. FIX THIS.. I have 4 aftermarket apps on here.. Firefox, Adium, MS Office and VMware Fusion.. If one of these is the cause then ill remove them but i highly doubt it sooo..

Has anyone found a fix for this yet or have any ideas on how to fix it??

Its extremely annoying to go to type something and the keyboard in your 2500 dollar computer does not work...

I know a lot of people are having issues with the keyboard, but mine is with the trackpad. It becomes completely unresponsive for 5-10 seconds for no apparent reason. This happened after my upgrade to Leopard. It was a clean install and occurred before any third-party software was added. The 10.5.1 release did not help it, unfortunately.

Do try giving it a chance to come back. Most people don't need to reboot. My keyboard takes 10-60 seconds to recover from not working. I usually just play with the keyboard lighting control keys until I see some action.

There are topics in the Leopard area about this problem too, though it seems to mostly affect MBPs. I'm sure it'll be fixed soon, but until then... ugh.

Add one too the count. Just started happening here about 3 days after installing Leopard 10.5.1 on my MacBook Pro.

Looks like this is finally opening a few people's eyes about the fact that Apple likes to act like there aren't issues even though there are just like someone else we all know. Wakeup Apple...expanding your userbase to include non-fanatics will mean that people will tolerate less BS.

Me too! Bummer! Restart clears it up for a while, anyway. Does seem to happen after the computer was asleep.

Wonder if it's tied in any way to other sleep issues I've noticed: i.e., fan coming on while computer's asleep in my bag, CD drive trying to spin up while computer's asleep in my bag. The fan came on today in the car while my computer was asleep, in the bag, in the back seat. Had to stop and pull the machine out of the bag, and it was BLAZING hot. Quit all apps and shut it down for the rest of the drive. Hope I won't have to shut down every time I want to go from Point A to Point B.

Machine is a brand new MacBook Pro 2.2. Full erase/install to Leopard upon first use.

Still love the machine. Love Apple. Hope they fix this, though.

I'm wondering how many of you who are experiencing this problem chose to simply upgrade from Tiger to Leopard instead of wiping your hard drive and doing a fresh install of 10.5.

I got my 2.16GHz 17" MBP over a year ago, did the "Erase & Install" option (I always recommend this to those who come to me), and haven't had this issue since installing immediately after 10.5 was released.

Perhaps you could all note on here whether you did "Erase & Install", "Archive & Install", etc?
