Keyboard randomly stops working after Leopard Install

Hey Everyone.. I see a few threads already but after installing Leopard my keybaord randomly just stops working.. The trackpad works fine but the keyboard goes completely dead.. Caps lock light is unresponsive.. I have found covering the speakers makes the backlights come on etc but does not effect the keyboard starting to work etc.

Apple.. There are multiple people talking about this.. FIX THIS.. I have 4 aftermarket apps on here.. Firefox, Adium, MS Office and VMware Fusion.. If one of these is the cause then ill remove them but i highly doubt it sooo..

Has anyone found a fix for this yet or have any ideas on how to fix it??

Its extremely annoying to go to type something and the keyboard in your 2500 dollar computer does not work...

The security upgrade 2007-009 is EVIL! It caused my MBP still running on Tiger 10.4.11 to start having keyboard problems also.

Very very disappointed in this holiday gift from apple. And it comes at a time when everyone is on vacation and no one is going to care to fix this problem.

PRAM reset fixes the problem for one cycle and then it's back again!

No. It is the reboot that fixes this for one cycle. Not the PRAM reset.

The Macbook I bought my girlfriend for Christmas is exhibiting this keyboard problem. It has happened twice, both times after running Firefox. The keyboard stopped responding but the touch pad and eveything else continued to work.

Both times the keyboard only started working again after closing the screen to suspend and then opening it to resume. I think this is a Leopard suspend mode problem, possibly with a Firefox interaction.

This Macbook is brand new with Leopard installed. The only applications added are iWork and Firefox. Hopefully this will get resolved soon in an update from Apple. It appears to be affecting a lot of people.

Hi all,
I have had intermittent freezing progress to completely non functioning keyboard and trackpad. The software update does NOT work. As far as I can see apple has a pretty major problem on it's hands here. My money's on the last security update, although my battery does seem to be draining really fast now aswell, anybody else had that?
Do you think apple is aware of how many people are viewing this thread (over 15,000 at this point) or do we all have to clog up their genius bars before they realise we need a working fix not a sticking plaster?

Wow, this thread is long. I think there is more to this problem than meets the eye. I applied all the updates and patches related in this thread. I have a new MBP with Tiger 10.5.2. Unless I type like a turtle, the first letter of whatever I type is getting dropped. Most noticible in web forms or in the address bar. It's like the keyboard needs a moment to come to life when you firts start into a line if it has had no input for a few seconds or so. Ther is something bus related her I think. It may be hardware caused after all.

hy flapane,
apple knows about this ELP-problem. so, i hope they located the bug and work on a fix.
and more replies like "i have the same problem" would not change anything. either apple is fixing this bug VERY SOON (with 10.5.2?), or, if not, we should start make more pressure (f.e. via laywer?!) because the laptop is not 100% usable because of such a stupid bug...
its something like censorship and being ignorant to the apple users that have paid a lot of money for a highpriced laptop!), what does here.
greetings
claus

I write here because they locked the other ELP thread (why??), and of course even if I use Tiger, there is the same issue.
O.o
Why did they lock the thread? 2000euros aren't enough to have a free-problems laptop?
They deleted my thread, where I was reqeusting explainations, too.

Personally I think something much bigger is going on. Like a batch of MBPs that simply have faulty hardware. Apple is probably trying to mask this with a software update but it seems from the responses here that those fixes don't cover all cases.

Why don't you try t resolve this through a more official channel like the shop where you bought the MBP or through AppleCare?

Ok, i saw two thread about the keyboard issue, so i will post this on both. I'm ANOTHER one with the issue, and i have it with TIGER!! My MBP it's a Santa Rosa 2.4ghz. I'm really thinking about an hardware problem here, because i found the same problem over three Santa Rosa MBP, all 2.4ghz, and all with TIGER! So i also found bad the fact that the patch was released only for Leopard, and seems also that doesn't work for everybody.

installed the update today but regretfully no luck. my keyboard will randomly not give me tabs, space, or delete keys. Its gets to the point my Macbook is simply unusable. I have to restart many times to get the problem to fix. Once it starts the only solution is to restart and then after a while the keys no longer work.

This is after the update, my Intel Duo Core 2Ghz Macbook Pro is just out of warrenty. Does it need repair again. I got a new battery 6 monthsagoand.......hyesmykeyboardisasuselessnowagainasitisforthepastfewdays.... iam.using.dots.now.toget.reasabe..rera..readable.texther..here...
