UK 02 (poor signal strength/reception problems)

My iphone can barely pick up even the slightest signal, although on occasion can pick up 3 ars, only for it to drop out again. I have two other 02 phones, a Sony Erricson and a Nokia n95 with no reception problems at all.

Is anyone experiencing same problem with their iphone, I would like to hear from you.

Another iphone owner suggested we email to: mycare@o2.co.uk

I think this is good idea, especially if we all do it. The iphone is not a phone without a signal, so this must be resolved and 02 need to made aware it is a real issue.

on a separate note, anyone had any luck making or downloading ringtones????

keep the messages coming guys

The following Ofcom (UK) website lists the locations of mobile transmitters used by the UK Mobile networks, this may help in assessing whether your problems are phone or network related.

http://www.sitefinder.ofcom.org.uk/

However, a few points to consider:

The website is not very intuative (to the point of frustration!) You have to zoom in close to see/select the actual base stations to see the relevant info.

Not sure how accurate the info is – I have read critisism in the past that the database is often out of date and innacurate.

Hope this helps a few of you!

Just to add, I'm about 15 miles outside Cambridge and have just picked up an iPhone and get full 5 bars in my house. Was on voda before with a nokia and also got 5 bars so no difference there.

Will find out more when I travel around a few villages from here to Grantham over the weekend to see how well it keeps signal.

Cheers

I really don't think this would be caught by disclaimers. The original post said that other O2 handsets don't have any problem getting a signal - just the iPhone. This suggests that it is a handset problem rather than a good old signal strength issue. If someone knows that they have a good O2 signal where they are in the country, they are entitled to presume that O2 will not contract with them for a phone that can't get that signal.
