My iphone can barely pick up even the slightest signal, although on occasion can pick up 3 ars, only for it to drop out again. I have two other 02 phones, a Sony Erricson and a Nokia n95 with no reception problems at all.

Is anyone experiencing same problem with their iphone, I would like to hear from you.

    I am a US iPhone user but I would suggest to you to just do a full restore via iTunes. If this fails call O2 to see if any other iPhone users in your area are having this problem as well. If this also proves to be no help, take it to your nearest Apple Store and let them swap the phone and the SIM.

    Yes, my signal is mostly 'No Service', with the occasional one bar, despite showing coverage on the O2 site - gutted.

    In the past, visiting friends with O2 have had a poor signal here, but better than I am getting.

    Hi Mandy, sorry to hear you are having the same problem, I purchased two iphones, both have reception issues, I am hoping that if there are enough users in Uk with same problem, Apple/02 will act on it, after-all an iphone without reception is just an ipod.

    Same here. Been on Orange for 15 years and bought iPhone on Saturday with O2. Never been unable to get a signal here with Orange but have only managed one bar on rare occassons on the iPhone in 48 hrs.

    Is this a fault with the phone or do O2 simply not have as good a coverage as Orange?

    Us too. Live in DA5 postcode area. Bought 2 phones, struggling to get a signal in our house with both phones...any ideas how to raise this ?

    Yeah, as much as I hate to say it I think Apple should of gone with Vodafone. The O2 signal where I live is virtually nill (slightly negating the use of a phone at all if you can't get a signal) however I can get a Vodafone signal. I hate to say this but it's true.

    Have any of you guys checked the O2 site to see if their coverage map shows that you should have coverage or not?

    If (like me) the map shows coverage when there is virtually none, do we have a case of misrepresentation?

    Unlikely Darkzoo as o2 will no doubt have a pile of disclaimers that will probably include exclusion of local factors such as the construction of your building, local factors such as other buildings and obstructions etc. I think the coverage maps only ever applied to outdoor use (at least that's my memory for when digital phones were rolled out).

    Found the relevant bit for you...

    The levels of service represented on the Current and Future Coverage maps are computer predictions of the current operational cellular service. The levels are indicative of where it should be possible, in a variety of circumstances and to certain company standards, to make and receive calls on the O2 network. Where 'Very Good' service is predicted it should be possible, in most circumstances, to use a mobile in a vehicle and, depending on the structure, within certain buildings. 'Variable' coverage is shown as a guide of where the strength of the cellular signal may fluctuate and hence affect the level of service experienced.
    As with any terrestrial based radio system, the strength of the cellular signal that a mobile relies on to operate may be affected by vehicle and building structures, atmospheric conditions and topographical features (such as tunnels, cuttings etc). O2 recommends the use of a hands-free kit with associated external antenna for use in a vehicle.
    The Future Coverage prediction shows the current operational cellular network combined with the predicted service to be provided by new cell sites scheduled for activation in the near future. This is based on a predicted list of cell sites due to go live 3 months from the coverage generatation date. The coverage generation date is printed on the coverage map.

    been having the same problem as you guys. When I'm in Glasgow its fine but I live 12 miles outside and the signal is very poor sometimes no service at all.my mum is with o2 and her signal is fine which makes me wonder if its a problem inside the phone .
    the weird thing is the only time I have a good signal is when the phone is sitting on the cradle charging through my mac not sure why.

    Coverage here in my area on all other phones is a full 5 bars...iphone it goes between 1 and 3 most of the time and a full bar if very lucky.

    Glad I'm not the only one having this exact problem.
    Been onto O2, we all need to get in touch with them, to show there is a problem then hopefully will make them do something about it.

    thats odd. i live in leicester and my signal hasnt dropped below 5 bars apart from at my grandads house, but every family members phone loses signal there for some reason. very strange, just give O2 a call and they should sort it out for you. i did before on my old phone, had same problem and they just done stuff their side and it fixed it.
