Canopus ADVC 110 not working with FCP

Hey
I'm trying to capture an old VHS tape to FCP using the Canopus ADVC 110, but FCP is not recognizing the 110. I have the VCR connected to the 110 and 110 connected to my mac monitor via firewire. In FCP, I have the project set-up for standard DV-NTSC with Non-Controllable Device as the device control. None of the lights on the 110 are lit up, the toggles on the back are all switched to off except #5(these where the setting the Canopus was set to when it last worked, on the iMac G5, with an older iMovie). Any suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks
Liam

Hi, I actually own a ADVC300 instead of a 110, but have ran into similar problems.

I fixed mine by adjusting the toggles on the back of the canopus unit. There should be a toggle to set the canopus as a "unit" or "pc". You want it as "unit" to operate it as a non controllable device.

Also, you may wish to connect the unit directly to your mac and not route it through your monitor first.

In any event, good luck!

Thanks for your suggestions Alexi,
I did try to connect the 110 directly to my computer (still) nothing.
I do not have a toggle for "unit" / "PC". My toggles are

Off / On
1. Digital in Reference Stream Sync / Fixed
2. Power on input mode Analog / Digital
3. Audio mode 48 / 32
4. Locked Audio mode Locked / Unlocked
5. Set up Level 0 IRE / 7.5 IRE
PAL NTSC
6. Video Format NTSC / PAL
