When I email a picture using the email button, how do I get it to automatically go as an attachment? iPhoto in Tiger 10.4 did it automatically. Now, my pictures are not going through unless I manually attach them.
MacBook Pro 3,1,
Mac OS X (10.5),
Using iPhoto and iMovie bundle from the latest Tiger
In the meantime, create a new Message in mail. On the top right hand side of the Mail window click on the button marked 'Photo Browser'. That might help.
If your recipients are using Windows, then your Mail application needs to have the "Always Send Windows Friendly attachments" checked. Look in the Edit>Attachments> menu in Mail.
Technically, they're always sent as attachments, but the Windows-friendly works for Windows recipients. Don't know why, but it does. Without this checkbox, recipients receive the message text but not the pictures.
Chis, double-click the picture in iPhoto and make sure you're not getting the "!" icon. If iPhoto doesn't have a link to the file (and is simply displaying the associated thumbnail) then nothing will be sent.
Thanks Guys, it appears its only happening with some photos -, while showing in the library as thumbnails, they do not expand when clicked on. These result in no email at all when clicking the iphoto email button. I'll keep monitoring ...
thank you
The ! or ? turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
The most common cause of this is User Activity in the iPhoto Library Folder in the Finder.
Have you altered, moved or renamed anything in the iPhoto Library Folder?
If you haven't, then try rebuilding the database. Hold down the
apple and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
