Jabber won't stay connected

So, I upgraded to Leopard and now have some problems staying online with jabber. I can log into my AIM accounts through iChat fine, and my gmail account logs in as well (I deleted my prior Jabber account and set it up as Gmail). No certificate problems or anything like that. Now, however, after about 15 - 30 minutes, my Gmail account will be disconnected. I can sign back in, but then it just disconnects again. I get a message " Lost connection with Jabber (Gmail) -- Could not connect to host talk.I.google.com"

Any ideas?

That's not the same server I have for GOOGLE unless you mistyped it here.

I have talk.google.com no I or l in the middle.

No, what I typed is correct EXCEPT that the "I" is a lower case "L". The address which was displayed in the error message referred to the server "talk.l.google.com." A quick googling seems to show that this is a commonly used server by google talk. Like you, I too have talk.google.com listed in ichat pref's server settings. BTW, problem still exists.

Umm,

I occasionally lose the GoogleTalk server but I must admit to not reading then closely.

Not sure what else to suggest.

I just leave it for a awhile knowing it happens to virtually any IM server.

Yeah, don't see what else to do unless someone has got another idea. This never happened once (truly) prior to updating to Leopard. sigh

He seems to know more about Jabber.

If Rocky Heatherington or Sillydog701 post they know A LOT more.

Well, problem solved. it was the router. I had the tcp and udp timeout rates set too low in the router (using dd-wrt). Upped the rates to 600 seconds and no problems since. Glad it wasn't ichat... glad it is solved. Thanks for your help.

That's useful to know.

I know my Netgear has one (set to zero) that I have never bothered with but it could explain other people's issues.

I have the same problem with my jabber connection. I looked through my router setting (DLink DI-624) and didn't see any setting for tcp/udp timeouts. Anyone have any ideas?
