TWAIN source closes after each scan

I'm using a Brother MFC-7820N connected via usb to my MacBook running OS 10.5. I always scan directly into Graphic Converter. In order to scan I now need to "open the TWAIN source" before each scan. In the past (running Tiger), I never had to "open the TWAIN source" unless I changed scanners. Even then, I only had to "open the TWAIN source" once. I'm running the up-to-the-minute version of GC and I've installed Brother scanner Driver 3.1.0. I've also exchanged emails with Thorsten Lemke from GC-he said it's a scanner driver issue, not a GC issue. I'm beginning to suspect it's a Leopard issue.

Anyone else have this problem?

P.S. Going back to Tiger is not an option-it can't be installed on this machine.

I'm having the same problem using an Epson 1260 scanner with the latest Leopard compatible Epson drivers. I always have to choose the Acquire Twain Open Source first and then use the Acquire Twain Acquire menu option in GraphicConverter to initiate a scan. As an added bonus, when the scan is complete the Epson Scanner Monitor.app sometimes gets deleted from my applications folder. The scanner software continues to work with or without the Epson Scanner Monitor.app.

I have no problems using the Apple Image Capture Application. I can't isolate exactly where the problem is.

I just got off the phone with Brother Mac support. She told me that since it doesn’t happen when the Brother interface is used, it must be an issue with GC. She also told me she had one other call from someone who is having the same problem. I tried toggling the “Close TWAIN Source after end of scan” option in the GC Preferences>General: Plug-ins Settings, but it makes no difference. The TWAIN source closes if the box is checked or not checked. Just before I was notified about your post, I had sent an email to Thorsten with this information. If it's happening with other manufacturers' equipment, it has to be a GC or a Leopard issue.
