ACL found but not expected.................

I powered up my iMac (intel) and I got a blank white screen - up until this point it would be up and running in a second or two so this was a shock. I forced a shut down and had to restart a couple of times before I got a white screen with the apple and then it started up. I repaired permissions thinking it might need it (don't know why - nothing had changed that I know of) but I got this mess:

Is this a sign of something fishy? Or not?

same for me over here on my MBP 2.2 it takes forever to repair permissions and always comes up the same problems

FYI... The "ACL found but not expected on..." items found when Repairing Permissions will be replaced with "Warning: SUID file [various paths] has been modified and will not be repaired." if you update using the Software Update from the Apple menu.

Downloading the full 108 MB 10.5.1 updater and this appears correct Repairing Permissions. What is a bit odd is that Disk Utilities for 10.5 and 10.5.1 appear to be the same version: 11.0 (252) when selecting About Disk Utility.

Same here Guys / Ladies, Takes a good minute before the permissions repair process starts and when it does I get the exact same errors. I tried to do a software update, it didn't worked. So i had to manually download the 10.5.1 update. After installation I still get the same error while repairing disk permissions. Mac mini intel 1.83 dual core 1gb of ram.

Hi same thing here, I had this problem when I installed leopard on my powermac g5, it disappeared after the 10.5.1 update.

I have installed leopard on my g4 powerbook done the 10.5.1 update and the problem is still there.

Just to add I thought the problem had gone on my G5 but it has reappeared.

I do not have the SUID warning from what I can tell you only get this problem if you install the Remote Desktop Client from the software update, I did the standalone install of 10.5.1

Apparently this is not a problem, really, but more a message that should be suppressed. It's like walking into a formal party and going up to every person and saying "I see you're wearing black, but I didn't expect that."

I guess my view is more along the lines of - the programmers apparently tied this 'ACL' to all these areas in Leopard but now permissions, using your analogy, after receiving an invitation to a black tie even - is surprised to find everyone in a tux.

It is normal for Leopard according to the guys at the Genius Bar. According to them, in disk utilities, once you run verify and then repair, everything is fine and dandy, no matter what is left written. You can run this command in the terminal and then run disk utilities and it does remove most of the lines that you see.
:sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions && sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions
You must have administrative previleges to run the command. It worked for me, but not for long....
