ERROR MESSAGE "The Ipod cannot be synced! The required disk cannot be found"

This happens to all three 2g shuffles, ever since iTunes was updated to 7.5.0.20!

Had them checked at a service center, they were fine. De and re-installed iTunes at least 5 times to no avail. I have been on this for 48 hours and have little hair left.

PLEASE HELP!!!

OMG! Thanks so much for that info I have not been using my Shuffle lately cause I spent hours upon hours trying to sync and it was impossible. I tried the mouse thing and it synced 40 songs immediately! I am still in shock at how quickly it happened. I do think it ***** that in order to get it to sync I have to unplug my mouse everytime, though! I guess ya get what ya pay for.

It really worked for me...

In order to help, drag your playlist onto the shuffle and inmediately click on "Scan for Hardware Changes" ( you have to have the window "Hardware/Device Manager" open, of course ^^)it worked on me that way, because if I clicked the icon before putting the songs, ITunes freezed.
Use the same way if you want to remove a song (DELETE>"Scan for Hardware Changes")

cheerz and thank you!

I have Windows XP Pro SP3. My solution was:

1. Go to http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1478. In iTunes change your Ipod settings to "Enable Disk Use" in the Settings window tab. You will know this worked when you can see your Ipod as a disk in My Computer or Windows Explorer. HOWEVER, After doing this you will have to manually eject your Ipod each time you want to physically disconnect it from your computer. After you manually eject the Ipod you should NOT be able to see it as a disk in My Computer.

2. After ejecting the Ipod and unplugging it: If you want to reconnect it just plug it back in. Again you see see it as a disk drive in My Computer.

3. Also, if you haven't unplugged it yet after ejecting it; you can go to My Computer / View System Information / Hardware / Device Manager / Action / Scan for hardware changes (any device has to be selected). (I don't recommend this for some people -- they don't want to get in this deep into the computer settings.)

4. I never tried unplugging my USB mouse but this would probably have the same effect as doing Step #3 above.

HOPE THIS HELPS, IT WAS A REAL PAIN FOR ME TO FIGURE IT OUT.

Thank you robgurr01. I have been working on this problem for about three days trying to sync. I received a gift card for music and purchased one song to see how it would work. The song was in the music library but each time I tried to sync it over to my IPod I got this message. After several tries using previous posts, you were the answer. It is so simple. I will never buy another Apple product since they don't seem to give the support after the 90 day warranty is up.

I've seen a bunch of replies relating to Windows installs here, does anyone know what the fix is if you're running iTunes on your Mac? I have exactly the same proble, except the autofill feature works fine, but when I manually try to drag (or copy) songs from iTunes to my 2G shuffle, it pretends to sync, but the songs are never copied to it. Any ideas for MACs?
