Photo Booth Movies

• Launch iMovie HD. (If you only have iMove 7 from iLife '08, download and install from this link.)

• Drag your Photo Booth movie into the clips window or use iMovie's File > Import menu command.

• Drag your imported movie into the "clip viewer."

• Click the "timeline viewer."

• Edit as desired.

Which iMovie are you using?

Can you import/edit a different file?

Can you edit a clip you record with this iMovie?

Could you check the following please:

1.Drag the recorded Photo Booth movie thumbnail from the Photo Booth window to your desktop. Put your cursor over the file and "control + click" (hold the ctrl key and do a mouse click at the same time) select "show info" from the pop up menu. Could you post the information that is displayed under "size" and "codecs" please?

2. Go to Apple menu>System preferences>desktop & Screen Saver>select "change picture">choose "every 5 seconds"

Could you post if the background picture dissolves every 5 seconds or does it show no effect if it changes into the next picture?

To reset this function deselect the "change picture" checkbox.

Hi, It's the other person with the Photo Booth problem. My Movie's Codecs are: MPEG-4 Video, AAC
My Desktop pictures fade and change every 5 seconds as you suggested to the other person to try.

Open iMovie and us the import feature from the menu to import the clip from the desktop into iMovie.

Thanks, but I've tried that several times and i-Movie goes through the routine of importing with several status bars popping up then shows "no matching video" in the event window. It does seem to take a very short time for a 22mb video. I have show all clips selected.

What happens if you "ctrl + click" the file on your desktop and select "show info" and you choose "open in iTunes", does it playback in iTunes?

Hi again. I can open and play the Photo Booth Movie in i-Tunes. I'm not sure what you mean by opening in "media". I can see it from i-Movie in the i-Tunes Movie folder. When I import from there, however, the same thing happens, that is i-Movie goes through it's routine, yet no video is available in the events library.
I'm starting to wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that the movie was made with one of Photo Booth's special effects, i.e., mirror image?

That could be very well possible. What I'd do is open the movie in Quicktime (double click it on the desktop)>QT menu>Archive>Export it to DV>Drag the DV file into iMovie's timeline after the conversion has completed.

Thanks again for the advice. I don't have Quicktime Pro. I'll think about upgrading to it, but for now I'm going to give up and discontinue this message thread.

I understand, I'm sorry that it still isn't solved.
The reason I suggested to convert to another format was it could be the first frame of the video is an unsupported GIF file, and the size of your video might be miscalculated. but then again it might be something more obvious and I just don't see it.

Good luck and check every now and then to see if a similar problem get's solved.
