Half of my iphone screen unresponsive

Well can't say I'm pleased with Apple there. A friend brought me back an iphone from the US, and I'm experiencing the same problem many of you are : half of the screen is dead, won't respond to any command. Its great when you live in the States to get it replaced in a few days but HOW are we supposed to get the problem fix in Europe and at what price. The guarantee won't work in France, the iphone hasn't yet been launched.

And I'm not the only one I know with this issue, I can't believe it.

I've always been a fan of Apple, since the very beginning, but if I can't get my iphone running, I'll never buy their products again, not even a new ipod. PLEASE, someone help me.

Thanks

Allan Sampson, stop joking, you're clearly working for Apple.

he doesn't, actually. Hes just a regular around here.
But the point is, since I have NOT installed any hacked programs can I get it repaired although I have not yet suscribed any AT&T contract.

There is no way that could be true. Without activation the phone does nothing. All you are able to do is call 911. If you have any functionality AT ALL it has been hacked.
Looks like it but I need a confirmation before sending it to my friend in NY. And appart from the phone, what should I send along?

Nothing. You just need the phone.

Thanks Ansuz82

I really though Allan was an Apple guy. If not, then I'm quite sorry I was a little overreacting on some posts, and thanks to you both for your help.

Actually, right now I indeed can't do a thing with my iphone, that's why I'm so ******. A friend brought it back from the States and I was looking forward to hacking it to use with a French network. Turns out I can't use numbers 1-6 on the Emergency keypad so I can't hack in. Therefore I trully have a broken iphone, unactivated and unhacked.

I guess its worth trying to have my friend try out an Apple shop. He's a lawyer in NY and I guess he can find the right words to get the shop to repair the danm phone. But still, for me, buying the iphone turns out to be a BIG mistake and I'll think twice before buying Apple from now on.

Gotcha! You should have no issue getting it repaired/replaced then.

As for the "big mistake" I wouldn't make up your mind just yet. You got a bad unit - its unfortunate but it happens. This is the main reason I don't advocate getting the phone out of country and hacking the sim - since there is no support structure in place you are without any help in the case of a hardware/software failure.

Since you are still inside your warranty Apple should replace it on the spot. Get it up and running, then make up your mind about the product.
