HP F2100, F4100, 7400, L7700, C4380, C6200, and C7200 Series Beta Updates

The next round of beta drivers is available for download from HP.com. There should be one more round this week (maybe even later today) and another round next week 🙂. After that we will start posting final versions for devices that don't have beta's available as well as going back and updating the beta drivers to final.

One known issue with these, they do not fix the duplexing issue yet (but we have found the issue). I hope to have a patch available with this fix for the two OfficeJets that are part of this group next week. Sorry for the fix not being part of this release, but it takes time from the point I have software for you until it makes it through the posting process onto HP.com.

With that being said, here are the new beta availabilities:

DeskJet F2100 Series
DeskJet F4100 Series
OfficeJet 7400 Series
OfficeJet Pro L7700 Series
PhotoSmart C4380 Series
PhotoSmart C6200 Series
PhotoSmart C7200 Series

Go to http://support.hp.com, click "Software and Driver downloads", type in your model number, and click the ">>" button (or press return/enter) select Mac OS X, and then click "HP Photosmart Full Feature Software and Drivers - Mac OS X v10.5"

Still working hard to get this all done. And just trying to help.

Enjoy!

Zash,

The best I can say is printing is supported. The problem with the Airport is being looked into. It is not on the list for a full Leopard roll, but I am monitoring this forum, and we are looking at adding additional devices to the list (once we get through the long list of devices we are doing). And this device is high on that additional list. If it gets added to that list I'll let you know.

Just trying to help

Andrew

HP Mac Architect -- You ROCK!!!! I WORSHIP you!!!!! I just downloaded the beta driver for the C7280 and it works like a champ -- it prints, scans, you name it!!!!

Thank you so much for going the extra mile to get this to us even though it is not yet up and ready on the site (or at least wasn't this morning). I'm sure I'm not alone in appreciating you for your efforts!

Thanks so much!

Just downloaded the C7200 drivers and got everything working. Copy, Scan, Print and Fax. Great, worth the wait.
Thank you HP Mac Architect. It would be nice if HP website offered some link or update of this process.
Incidentally, Apple stores are totally ignorant of these issues, they claim no one has complained about using HP printers and Leopard, until I brought it to their attention and showed them the discussion thread. And this store is in Los Gatos, CA- next door to Apple and HP headquarters.

Hi there!

I have a simple question. I have a psc1210 that works with my airport express just for printing because scanning does not work. Scanning only works with cable connection and not very well because there are no drivers for leopard.

My question for you is this: What printer should I buy for printing and scanning wireless, knowing that I have a wireless network managed by an airport express?

Something like a photosmart c4380 ? or other?

I do not want a Rolls Royce, just a regular printing and scanning device.

Thanks for your time, and please tell HP that my printer needs drivers for it.

I have an issue printing remotely to an HP psc 2410 all in one.

The printer is usb connected to a recent iMac running 10.5.1. When print locally it runs fine.

When trying to print remotely from a iBook G4 funning 10.4, I can successfully print, but as soon as the print dialogue disappears, the applications originating the print fails.

I have been advised that I probably need to install the leopard version of the hp print only driver on the iBook.

Does anyone know where I can procure such a driver? HP does not yet have one posted and I don't plan to upgrade the iBook to 10.5. When I try break open the Leopard Optional install package on the iBook running tiger, it fails.

Mac Architect,
thank you for posting these beta drivers !!

So, on the C7180 the beta driver does not work well at all (installed on a Mac pro, and Macbook pro, both 10.5.1):
While I can print and scan again fine, the options for paper, 2 sided printing, etc etc no longer show up, in any print window, any application.
For example in Safari, when printing I can select layour, scheduler etc. - but when selecting ANY item of the lower list (paper type, quality, two-sided etc.) the 'bar' displays my selection, but it stays blank. In other words, none of those options are accessable anymore at all!

The problem is showing in the CONSOLE as such:

11/29/07 3:35:46 PM HP Photosmart Studio2016 unable to load nib data: /Library/Printers/hp/cups/Inkjet.driver/Contents/PlugIns/PDE.plugin/Contents/Re sources/English.lproj/TwoSidedPrinting.nib

11/29/07 3:35:40 PM HP Photosmart Studio2016 unable to load nib data: /Library/Printers/hp/cups/Inkjet.driver/Contents/PlugIns/PDE.plugin/Contents/Re sources/English.lproj/SimpleDigitalPhoto.nib

and so on (for all the nibs in thats section)

If I drill down the paths however, the nibs ARE there. Permissions repair was done (found a bunch of HP issues , but fixed them all...)

Do you have any suggestions? This worked with the 9.5 drivers (which if course had other issues due to not being Leopard certified).

Thanks!
Dan

So, it's definitely a problem with the 9.7 beta INSTALLER for C7180
When I drill down the package of the installer itself, all the libs are there in the English.Lproj folder. FOr some reason, they don't copy correctly during install, resulting in the 0 byte files (I now tested this once more on a fresh-installed 10.5.1 system - same thing!).

I replaced the 0 byte files with the ones from inside the package (dated Oct 31) and it works!!!

Please make sure the installer is fixed prior to release 🙂

Thank you,
Dan

I have tried to follow all the threads and topics for getting my printer to print with Leopard. I have a new Imac (Leopard) that I am able to print wirelessly. I am also able to print from a G4 machine using Tiger. I am able to print from the MacBook if I use a USB cable from the machine to the printer. However, if I disconnect, and try to add the printer, it recognizes it, but will not add it. Any suggestions?
