The act of converting in iTunes the ID3 tags to anything other than "None" causes the Comments field to be replaced with hex characters, eliminates the total # of tracks field, and replaces the Album Artist field with the name of the folder holding the tracks. Other changes may also occur. Converting the ID3 tag to "None" does restore the Comments field to its original first 40 characters or so (anything after that is lost), and it does not restore the total # of tracks data or the Album Artist field. I have Windows Media Player turned off entirely, and all automatic updates in iTunes disabled, but the problem persists. We have 7 iPods, iPhones and loads of iTunes music, and had planned to do more Apple hardware, but will abandon everything if Apple doesn't fix these problems soon. A properly working music database is essential. How can we get Apple to fix this or post a solution?
