Unlocked German iPhone not working

So I had the pleasure to give Apple and T-mobile 999 euros for an iPhone. After 30 hours it activates in iTunes but there the glory end.

* I can't call the phone (the hourglass just runs and then the phone jumps out to screensaver)
* I can't open the SMS app after receiving SMS
* I can't open last-calls list
* I can't dial phone numbers in the dial-app.

Are there anybody else who has this problems?

I use an unlocked German iPhone with Swedish carrier SIMs (Telenor and Telia).

Regards
Patrik

They can not see it as a big problem, that the iPhone dont work as a phone. Se what the lame Apple support wrote to me:

We are actively working on addressing the issue and will roll that fix out the public when it's ready. Please keep in mind that we don't roll out a new iPhone update when just one issue is resolved. We are currently working on multiple critical issues and once all of those issues have been addressed, we will make an update available to the general public.

Great news folks, there is a fix to your problem coming with the next FW update (actually thats not really news). I hate to be the one to disappoint so many users, but I think this fix and FW update will be available to German and French officially unlocked iPhones when the iPhone is officially available in the rest of Europe.

As I said in previous posts, Apple are not rushing to fix this issue, if they were, then it would be sorted by now.

Where do you have that information from? (I´m also able to guess)

If waiting until the phone is on sale in the rest of europe was what I wanted, I don think I had paid 1998 euros for two useless phones.

I´m so surprised about the very amateur way Apple are handeling the issue. Not only support but also the other Apple persons I have been in contact with.

Giving up on being a Apple customer now.

Excuse me for asking, but what did you expect the outcome?

The unlocked iphones are only designed to work in their respective countries (Germany and France). You were impatient to wait for the official release, went cross border and brought back an unlocked phone, and expected it to work - that's wishful thinking imo.

Of course Apple wasn't able to resolve you problam at the moment - the iPhone isn't released in Austria yet.

Oh come on...I don`t see it quite this way! I bet that the new nokia n95 8G and a new armani phone for all I care would work properly if brought from Germany to Austria. And I bet you would have been able to make a stupid phone call with both!! It's this Apple Iphone craze that has led to this mess. And noone seems to be responsible for it! I have bought an Iphone in Germany for 999 euros and when I buy something that's "unlocked for other providers" I expect it to be functional. And such outcome, for this matter, such ignorance from all sides I have certainly not expected. Now I'm stuck here with an ipod and noone gives a S**T! Why should they? Who cares about some 200 unlocked Iphones?
I hope that somebody from this forum who has succesfully done that thing that is not supposed to be mentioned here to his or hers 1.1.2 Iphone still reads posts here and I would be very very greatful if they would contact me because I would do the same thing but have no idea how or whatsoever!!! please please...

And Stewie? How come Apple is not able to solve this problem when many already have truly unlocked h **d phones? How come that a few hackers can do something and apple is not able to the same in the last month?? ignorance, my friend...they would be able to do so if they would really want to...

Dear all, I was afraid of it already; I received the latest SIM card from Vodafone, placed it in my officially unlocked French iPhone, here in The Netherlands, and... nothing solved ! The SIM card is definitely not the problem... still need to wait for update on FW. Last weekend ? This weekend (I am not hearing anything anymore by the way) ? Next Year ?

Apple please ! I truly think it is not right that people pay a lot of money for an officially unlocked and provider independent iPhone (in stead of...) and then find that it doesn't work !

At least provide us with some intel about what 'you' are doing to fix this, or maybe that you are unwilling to fix this.

Thanks,
A great Apple fan, but severely disappointed over how you're handling this iPhone thing !

By the way, did anybody try a 'foreign' T-mobile or Orange SIM ?

Posted before finishing... full post:

"Get it ?" What is that supposed to mean ? Is that the official stand point of Apple or just something you made up ?

If it is country locked, why are all Europeans allowed to buy in France without having to pay tax when bringing it back to their country and why is it not advertised ?

Europeans are not like Americans. We travel. We go places and buy stuff. It is my right to buy an 'officially unlocked and provider independent' iPhone and bring it back to Holland. There is no other way of saying it, but 'it should work !'

As a client of Apple, I demand a fully functional device !
