Unlocked German iPhone not working

So I had the pleasure to give Apple and T-mobile 999 euros for an iPhone. After 30 hours it activates in iTunes but there the glory end.

* I can't call the phone (the hourglass just runs and then the phone jumps out to screensaver)
* I can't open the SMS app after receiving SMS
* I can't open last-calls list
* I can't dial phone numbers in the dial-app.

Are there anybody else who has this problems?

I use an unlocked German iPhone with Swedish carrier SIMs (Telenor and Telia).

Hi there,

I'm in Russian Fedration. I've bought iPhone for 649E in Paris at November 29, the official France sales start day. Activated it on my notebook in the hotel on free Wi-Fi internet connection - no problems! I've used Russian credit card and my iTunes logged into French iTunes web site. Orange gsm network worked like a charm.

Have to call 3792 (charged) to Orange service. They told me that they mail me some code and instructions via snail mail, so I gives them an address of my french friend (I stayed in France only for 7 days).

Then I return to Russia. I can check account in roaming (I have 111.49E on it), but calls are disabled in roaming by default.

Today it appeared only 11.49E on account! So 100 euros gone. I connect iPhone to PC, run iTunes. After 1 minute (I did not do anything) the message appears in iTunes: "Congratulations! Your iPhone is unlocked now!" and my MegaFon SIM was accepted by iPhone. Great! I have checked new (rounded contacts) and old (rectangle contacts) SIM cards, both work the same way.

The rest is the same as other in this thread. I cal make a call (only green line appear on top of the screen), can't end call. Can't receive calls, can't browse favorites etc.

Hope it is interesting to somebody!

Hello,

Working in the french part of Switzerland, I bought two regular iPhones with prepaid Orange FR SIM's in France on Nov 29. After finally figuring out the official unlock procedure, paying the 2 x EUR 100 for unlock and the waiting period (of 5, yes five, working days), I finally managed to unlock both of them this morning.

With both of my swiss SIM cards (1 very old Sunrise-formerly-known-as-DIAX, and 1 probably up-to-date Swisscom), the symptoms are exactly the same as for you German buyers... Shoot!

Apart from the waste of time in procedure and hours spent with customer care to figure everything out, I most of all hate feeling like I've been tricked. "Yes, you will be able to use it with ANY other SIM after unlock. Really? Yes, really. Even foreign SIM's? Yes, even foreign SIM's. OK, I'll have two then..."

Anyway, I'm quite sure Apple will find something (probably, hopefully, just a simple update - good X-mas present by the way), but I must say that (for having only recently started to buy some Apple products other than iPods) :

design is slick, support is sick!
