Unlocked German iPhone not working

So I had the pleasure to give Apple and T-mobile 999 euros for an iPhone. After 30 hours it activates in iTunes but there the glory end.

* I can't call the phone (the hourglass just runs and then the phone jumps out to screensaver)
* I can't open the SMS app after receiving SMS
* I can't open last-calls list
* I can't dial phone numbers in the dial-app.

Are there anybody else who has this problems?

I use an unlocked German iPhone with Swedish carrier SIMs (Telenor and Telia).

Where are those French forums? Going to Apple.fr I am redirected to discuss things here in English.

I spoke with Orange yesterday. It will take a full week to unlock the phone, and as it was released only last Thursday, there are another three to four days, before the first person can claim to legally have unlocked a French phone. Loopholes may exist of course - even legal loopholes.

(I did not buy any. It was tempting, but not tempting enough.)

Hi,

I bought the Iphone knowing that it is Legally Unlocked since the Seller (T-Mobile) told me that i can use the Telenor(Norwegian Operator) with this IPHONE here in Norway.The Guy from Apple in that store is told me that i can use it perfectly after 24 hours or more.. They took a scan of my Passport and get my Whole name for the Registration.

I dont want to brake the warranty because i just bought it 2 days ago and want everything to be legal.. 2 iphone is like wasted if its not working..

I will do my best to let T-Mobile that they should know what they are doing.. I asked them a proper question before i buy the Iphone, and the responded confidently that it will work perfectly..

They should have not selled it to me if it will not work properly.
I contacted Apple Germany already and they can't do anything with it. I told them that it might be a bug since i can call to other phone if the number is registered in my contactbook. but not recieve call etc.

is it still posible to return it?
does anyone did it already?

Welcome to the Club IsonHaug.

The T-Point where I bought my iPhone also knew that I intended to use it outside of Germany and the salesperson confirmed that the unlocking would make that possible. That is the whole purpose of unlocking, is it not?

IMHO Unlocking is useful to people withing a country who, for a reason or another, absolutely want to stay with one carrier and, above all, it is useful to people who travel a lot and want to be able to use carriers from several countries to save on the roaming costs.

Today, a German buyer who gets an unlocked phone because he or she travels a lot and wants to use local operators in other countries doesn't get what they are promised.

T-Mobile Germany seems blissfully unaware of the problem. Apple Germany's Help-Line doesn't offer help. Apple Germany Headquarters doesn't answer to a letter I sent them by fax almost a week ago. I guess you can sense my mounting frustration...

You can file a bugreport at bugreport.apple.com (registration is required but you can choose one of the free options). The more people complain, the greater the likelyhood that it gets fixed, if only to stop those annoying complaints...

One more thing: As far as I know, T-Mobile does not allow you to return the phone for this problem. They're probably wrong in doing so, but then you will have to hire a German lawyer (or argue really well yourself).

While waiting for the solution, enjoy the chat here. An be aware of the posting rules in here 😉

Well technically German and French markets. However if you travel to another country how do they expect the phone to work? Don't they realise travelling between countries in Europe is like travelling between Ohio and Michigan in the US? Some people live in France and take the train to the UK daily for work.

Obviously they're doing the minimum necessary to comply with the laws in Germany and France. Whether the consumer who takes advantage of their legal right in those countries is burdened or not doesn't seem to be a concern, which is discouraging as a cheerleader for their products.

Hmmmm. Bad News i called the T-Mobile Support and emailed them.

They dont do refund.It means you can not return the product.
What a helpful solution. Its their fault to sell the product not knowing the big
problem behind it.
Well,maybe suing them will help , This is a Fraud or breach of confidence.

Does anybody paid them using Credit Card?
