How to build own iWeb web widgets?

Hello,

currently I am including some javascript functionality using the HTML-widget. Works pretty good, but I would like to make it more sophisticated: building my own web widget and include all the js-stuff there and hide it to the iweb user.

Does anybody know how to build or better integrate own web widget into iweb so that they can be selected from the Web-widget menu?

Best regards,
Mark

Hi Cédric,

thanks for your reply.

I would wonder about that: when analyzing the iWeb archive I found out that all the widgets - e. g. the blog is also a widget - are highly customizable, easy to build and very simple integrated in the resulting html code.

The "only" thing I didn't found was how to integrate the widgets with iWeb and the iWeb GUI (for exampe by defining within a configuration file) ...

Mark,

Nope, we are not quite there yet, but closer:

I still could NOT get the bottom tool bar to work 😟 but the menu bar works 🙂
iweb is so closed up,you have to have good understanding of the app and whatever tools you have.
Unfortunately, I don't have time to work on it much... Keep up hopes!
There is alternative to what I demonstrated... and that is keep you widgets outside of iweb 🙂

Cedric,

You are not in the bowel of iweb yet, and if you don't want to be stink... stay that way 🙂

Cyclosaurus,

great news! That's what I have been looking for. How did you do that? Can you provide me a link to the description?

I need - would like to have 🙂 - full integration because my widget, based on lytebox, needs a css-file to be loaded from the parent document. That is the iWeb page.

Currently I am realizing that by modifying the parent document from inside the widget iframe. This works for Safari, but not stable for IE ad Firefox ...

If you are interested, you can try the functionality of my "widget" on mark-andrewhartinger.com.

Mark
