what's the best format to mail newsletters?

10 years ago when I used Outlook on a PC, there was an option to include html pages into an e- mail. I noticed at the time that Outlook on my Mac didn't have this feature.

Can anyone tell me where I can find information about creating formatted pages with hyperlinks that are visible in most e-mail reader windows? In illustrator, dreamweaver, flash... whatever !!
I use mail with OSX 10.3

I'd appreciate any infomation, thanks

HI, I've been using Mailings ( http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/email_chat/mailings.html ) to send my email newsletter for the past 2 years, it syncs with your address book, so it's very easy to manage. You just create a web page that's your email, you can use dreamweaver or whatever to create it, and then upload it to your server. Then you specify the url in the mailings interface and it automatically sends it as a html email. I've had a lot of luck doing this, I have over 900 recipients, most of them on PCs. Hope this is helpful!

This looks like what I'm after.
It's been a mystery to me all these years why Mac e-mail programs haven't allowed this, or if they do, why it isn't more obvious. I imagine that a very high percentage of newsletters are designed by graphic designers or ad agencies, who are mostly Mac based, they they have to find a PC guy to send it !

I've had a good try with Mailings, it's certainly better than OSX Mail, however it has trouble treating several html buttons and you can forget importing Flash movies outside the initial .swf import.
Also you can't open URL's in a browser program from flash content.
I'd appreciate any other suggestions (apart from buying a PC !)
the simpler the better !!

Mailings is very 'hit and miss'. Even for very simple html documents, sometimes it works, and other times it appears to send yet nobody receives anything.
Does anyone know whether there is another Mac based e-mail program that sends web pages?

Have you looked at Entourage, the MS product?

By the way, for OS 10.3, the best place to ask is probably here, rather than in the forum for 10.5:

Forget Entourage, that's a nonsense suggestion.

I use DirectMail, which is now much more stable and effective than it was 5 years ago when I started with this activity. Sends direct to servers or via your smtp servers and takes html, rich text or text as you like.

And geesh, all this blather about PC's. Get over it, there is more quality in every category of software for Mac than there is in all the voluminous mountains of garbage software available under Windows.
