MP3's do not play in finder (preview)

Highlight an icon (or several icons) and press cmd-Y (or its accesible from the menus...its called "Quick Look")

Here is what should happen:

When you can see the preview of the mp3 either in column view, or in the get info window, hovering over the preview icon should bring up a semi transparent play button in the middle of the preview. Click the play button and play will start. The old play bar does not come up anymore below the preview icon.

Or use QuickView and tap the space bar?

your info says you are on tiger, if so you can't use quicklview or coverflow. I remember getting a few qt icons in preview and I think I repaired permissions (I'm old, lol) and it fixed it and some preview didn't open because of the codec, I think.

I get the same thing and what I do is, let's say, I'm in column view and I have a folder with mp3's, I highlight one and see the itunes icon, I then switch to cover flow view and press the space bar for quick look and the song begins to play. you can highlight the file in column view and press the space bar for quick look also.
as to why the different icon look? have no clue.
shame after 11 updates apple couldn't wring out the same bugs that 10.5.1 had, lol. just funnin.

shouldn't that work in coverflow too ? cause here it doesn't.

when in collumn view i get the floating play button but not in cover flow.

in coverflow it works with movies and pdf f.e. but not with mp3s.

lol, when in column view I just get the album cover, if it has it but no play button.

I just want to add to the chorus. The lack of this function (no scrub bar or volume control) in the Finder is a real step backwards. Silly, Apple

why can't I download or save mp 3 with leopard ?
