You may wish to try something. I would do it but am recording some stuff tonight.
Remove the MyTVStartup folder from Library/Startup Items and put it on the desktop. Restart the machine (don't run EyeTV) and see if it wakes at midnight. Actuarius may have another problem because of the other issues he is having.
It's just that EyeTV works with the system to wake it for recording. There may be some incompatibility that has accidentally allocated the midnight start with a daily repeat.... Worth a try.
I can see that some of the earlier replies names EyeTV as the villain, and I can only do the same!
I've had the same problem ever since I installed Leopard, and first thought it was a bug in Leopard (which it still might be).
But really I believe that it's EyeTV Helper that starts or wakes my Mac at 01.00 ever night, following the computer's clock (I've tried resetting the time).
*But after terminating EyeTV Helper through the Activity Monitor, my Mac stayed fast asleep, or turned-off.*
I haven't had time to experiment more with this, so I'm still not 100% certain that EyeTV Helper is working alone on this one though, so let's hope that either Apple of Elgato comes up with an update soon...
So it seems there may be multiple potential causes, but EyeTV may be the culprit in my case also. I leave my iMac on all the time, just putting it to sleep when not in use. Every Sunday morning, I hit the mouse button to wake it up, but instead it reboots. I have EyeTV, and the last entry in Console at about 11:22 Saturday night is eyetvhelper. I'm set for manual updates, and I can't find any scheduling inputs in EyeTV that could be causing the problem. Hope someone finds a cure for this.
Since Leopard installation I also have an early morning start-up problem - as Time Machine seems to do its first backup at 3am, the iMac must be turning itself on just before then. Now if it could only turn itself on at 8am I wouldn't worry.
I have tried turning Time Machine on and off suspecting that this might be culprit, but no change. Everything else is neutralised (Power Saver settings, etc.) and I don't have TV type connections/programmes.
So I guess it must be a Leopard 10.5.1 problem, or Leopard has sentience built in.
I also have this problem. From complete shutdown the iMac starts up at 1 AM sometimes. I do have EyeTV, but it is switched off, the tuner isn't plugged in and I'm not subscribed to any program guides. Plus, like I said, the computer is at full shut down, not sleep mode.
Leopard is by far the worst OS update I've ever seen from Apple. Many many problems..
Did Pram Reset, Did SMC, did clean install and still start up after being shut off for 24 hours.
I think this problem existed before Leopard, but never notice it until pass month?. I found my MacBook Pro (bought early Sept 07) power up in my computer bag, but sleeping. Blame it on my self at the time. I felt the battery was not lasting as long as it should.
However, since installing Leopard (day it was released) and was checking out back up programs, like Synk Standard v6.3, Carbon Copy Cloner 3.0.1. I may have set up a schedule for 5:00PM???. Clean install and all the reset did not correct it. It still start up, check console log, can't seem to find anything that I can interpret to cause it. Check all the scheduling that any of the programs may have. Nothing to indicate the cause.
My iMac 20" (bought early Sept 07) is always on or in sleep mode, so if the problem exist, I wouldn't notice it. Once I figure out the MacBook Pro, as this may become a battery issue for me. I will check out the iMac.
It would be nice, if there was a program that can read the parameters and SMC settings, in case they are not being cleared or reset. I don't seem to have to set anything, as if the original values are loaded in on boot? This doesn't seem right?
I am having the same problem. I don't have EyeTV or any application that I know of that should cause this kind of behaviour.
What I do have is an external HD, and I think that that might be the cause. Perhaps Time Machine is longing to back up so bad that it actually causes the computer to start?
I will unplugg my external HD and see if it still starts.
There is definitely a problem with energy saver settings. I reset to defaults then set everything as I wanted but not only does it still start/wake at midnight, it also boots when I power on at the power socket when it is set the option NOT to restart after a power failure :-/
Otherwise no problems with Leo (scanning, printing etc.). Stable and quick.

I had my external HD unplugged during the night and my iMac *DID NOT* start. I strongly believe that this has got to do with Time Machine but since some other people are talking about them not using Time Machine at all, this leads me to believe that we are suffering from the same problem but from different causes.
I will attempt to have my external HD plugged in but Time Machine off and see what happens.
I'm having the problem without running EyeTV or Timemachine. No external HD is connected. The iMac will start up after a full shutdown every now and then, always during the night [1 AM], and, as far as I can see, no specific days.
