Nike Triax Elite Heart Rate Monitor and Leopard

When I installed the synchronization software from Nike (which worked perfectly in 10.4), it would not "see" my watch. I emailed Nike - their response is below. It works fine now with the new driver. (they have drivers for PPC based Macs as well)

+The Nike Triax Elite software has not been updated and tested to work on the newest Mac OS and unfortunately, there are no plans to update this program. This software has been working on other versions of Mac OS X if you download a new driver for the USB dongle. I would recommend downloading this driver and seeing if this will work for your system.+

+Please download the driver 2.2.8 as this is designed for Intel based Mac computers. Once this driver has been installed, you should be able to sync your watch with the computer.+

+If you have any additional questions, you can reach a Nike Timing specialist at 888-350-6453 for assistance with your Nike Triax Elite.+

Sincerely,

Matthew

I updated to Leopard, never used the Nike Triax Elite before. I installed the software and downloaded the newest driver (2.2.9) release January 9, 2008 at:

I restarted my computer and plugged in the USB and then started the software. It didn't work. There is no synch button as well.

When I go to About this Mac\More Info\USB....I get the following info.

Nike Triax Elite USBLink:

Version: 4.00
Bus Power (mA): 500
Speed: Up to 12 Mb/sec
Manufacturer: Dynastream
Product ID: 0x1000
Serial Number: 3
Vendor ID: 0x0fcf

Does anyone have any other ideas?

Matt

I'm in the same boat, using 2.2.9. Previous to my recent rebuild of the OS I had performed the update with 2.2.0 and everything worked fine. Is there something special about 2.2.9 that breaks the sync? I tried to download 2.2.8 and install over 2.2.9 but that doesn't work (and I'm unsure how to uninstall 2.2.9). Can anyone suggest a way to get this working?

Hi

I've installed the software from the Nike Extranet and I have installed the updated driver version 2.2.9 and rebooted. Leopard complained about the security of the driver, so I then 'Fix'ed that and rebooted again. I have plugged the USB dongle directly in to my MBP and it lights up blue. When I start the software and go to Sync, get the pop-up, go to PC mode on the watch, click Continue, then I get "
Checking Dongle Version...
Connecting with Watch...
No Watch: No watch could be detected, or connection was lost during communication.
"

Any ideas?
Cheers

Thank you Robin. I had an awful time getting the Nike Triax Elite OS X software from:
nike.com/timing/extranet/elite_software/

The software, EliteOSX.sea.bin, is wrapped in a Mac Classic only .sea self-extracting archive file.
Obsviously there's no Mac Classic mode for the intel-based Macbook Pro I'm using. I then tried a PBG4 but it was running 10.5.2, and I think Classic was discontinued in 10.4 or 10.3. So finally I tried an iBook G3/10.3, and ran Mac Classic to extract the EliteOSX folder. Whew!

I ran the installer on my MacBook Pro but the "Sync" function did not show. I read your post, and downloaded and installed the 2.2.9 driver, and rebooted. The "Sync" function showed, but when I tried to connect to my Nike Triax, it would report an error. I kept trying, and on the 3rd time, it established contact with my Watch! So far so good. Now to go out for a run.
