HP LaserJet 1320 requires user intervention to print after Leopard

Ever since upgrading to Leopard, almost every single time I send a print job to my HP LaserJet 1320 (over the network, it actually connected to a PowerMac G5 in my office), it triggers an error warning (orange flashing light) on the printer. Pressing the main green print button lets the job print, but this is really annoying.

I checked and Apple recently posted a note about the HP LaserJet 1200 having a very similar problem except that an error page was printed after each job. The workaround they suggest for this doesn't work with the LaserJet 1320 problem, however.

A quick Google reveals at least one other Leopard using HP LaserJet 1320 owner is seeing a similar issue. And actually, as I composed this post, I found some 1320 owners in another Apple Discussion post about HP printer issues with Leopard. They suggested using the generic PostScript driver, but then I really like to have the ability to duplex.

Nothing in the /private/var/log/cups/error_log file of note as far as I can tell.

Any ideas? Any other people out there experiencing this problem who might have a solution (other than switching to a generic postscript driver)?

I don't have any problem at all regarding the "user intervention". That is to say: I DID have them, but I just chose the "scale to fit page" option in the Driver tab of the printer properties (accessible via System Preferences > Printing & Faxing > HP LaserJet 1320 > Options and Supplies). However, I do have one tiny but annoying problem:

If I use tray 1 (the manual feed tray) to print envelopes, the printer 'pre-feeds' twice, before actually picking the envelope. On its own, this wouldn't have been a problem. What makes it a problem is that all my envelopes are screwed up because the printer starts printing too soon, meaning that the Sender's name is only half visible and the recipient's address is outlined far too much to the left (meaning the Post Office actually has the right to refuse my letters due to misprinted envelopes). I know FOR SURE that the issue isn't with the printing device (i.e. the hardware), as it works like a charm in Windows. So, there has to be a driver and/or settings problem. The only thing is: which setting to change to correct this? I don't want to mess up too much, as the rest of the features are working flawlessly (duplex; fully automatic printing (No User intervention); Banner printing via straight Paper Path; etc.)... So I'd have really liked the envelopes to fit into this line-up as well.
I can't find any appropriate setting to turn off and/or adjust the pre-feeding of envelopes; neither within the GUI nor in any of the CUPS related files nor anywhere in the CUPS web User Interface nor in the terminal... (to those wondering why one types this so explicitly: I've been searching high and low for a solution, even went so far as to try common Unix methods for solving things like this)...
So, if there's anyone willing to help me?

BTW, the latest HP printer drivers cause this problem with a LaserJet 3050 and Leopard, too. Switching to the Generic Postscript Printer driver is the only solution I've found--neither "Nearest Size and Scale" nor "Nearest Size and Crop" eliminate the user intervention of pressing the green button on the printer.

I hope Apple/HP fixes this problem in the HP printer drivers--it's really annoying!
