embedding photos to a forum

Question

embedding photos to a forum

With my smugmug account, I can embed a photo onto forums by placing the url for the photo between [img] tags. I have tried that with my photos stored on my iweb site, but it won't work. Is there a way to do this?

Is this the code you're using?

<*img src=" http://homepage.mac.com/youraccountname/.Pictures/FILE "*>

The asterisks were added so the code would display. This would be for a image file located in the Pictures folder of the iDisk.

If the forum uses BBCode instead of HTML then the code would be:

{img} http://homepage.mac.com/youraccountname/.Pictures/FILE{/img}

The curley brackets were used instead of the [ ] brackets so the code would display.

I am talking about your 2nd example - BBcode. I am not wanting to embed images from idisc. I want to embed images from my iweb website. The main problem that I can see is that the url to each image on an iweb photo site has the extension html#14 (or whichever number). Whereas, on smugmug, each image has .jpg as it's extension.

How are you getting the URL address of the image? Right click on the image in your web site and select "Copy image address" from the contextual menu. Add that address to the BBCode code. One from my test site came out

http://web.mac.com/my-account-name/TestSite/Morelinksfiles/Clyde.jpg

In the HTML version it comes out as

Give that method of getting the image url a try.

When I right click, I do not get a choice that says "Copy Image Address" I get "Copy Link" When I select that, I get what you see below.

OK, I tried right clicking the little thumbnails in the "filmstrip view" and I had that choice. But now I want to be able to get the full size picture.

The copy image address doesn't work when the image is java based like in the slideshow. It only works when the image is embedded in an HTML page like the photo I added to my previous post.

It looks like I am just going to have to stick with Smugmug because I can embed images of different sizes. It seems with .web, I can old embed little thumbnails. I need pictures that are 800 pixels on one side. But thanks for all the help.
