can't find pictures to upload to snapfish

When I press UPLOAD it takes me to "pictures" and there's nothing there.

If you use the extended Open or Attach dialogue (with Column View) you can scroll to the bottom of the Shortcuts (on the left hand side) and find the Media browser there. Select any pic you want from there.

This only works with Snapfish's "one at a time" upload option. When you try and use their multi-picture upload you get a different version of the browser with no iphoto pics. I've seen that you've recommended a couple of alternatives such as just dragging photos into the the Snapfish Safari attach page, but that hasn't worked for me, it just opens up the individual picture in Safari, not Snapfish. You also mentioned elsewhere a program called iMedia. How does that work with Snapfish and the likes? You also mentioned creating our own Automator Media Browser. I couldn't figure that one out. Any tips on how to do that or am I better using iMedia? Thanks!

are. So, if you can explain that it might help. However, using the attach dialogue in Safari you can select multiple pics - just hold down the  and click.

I don't use iView, that's one for OT, who does and speaks highly of it. Though, for my money, it would be more simple to change your online printing service than changing your entire photo organisation system.

This sounds like you're dragging the pic to the Safari Window and not to the Window in the Attach Dialogue.

Thanks, but unfortunately I'm still having some issues. I downloaded the media browser you recommended, but I'm not sure what to do with it. When I open up Snapfish or MySpace it still automatically opens the regular browser, sans the iPhoto library. And again, I tried your suggestion of dragging pictures from it over to Safari, but you're right I'm apparently dragging them into the Safari Window. I'm not sure how or what the Window in the Attach Dialogue is or looks like. Any further advice would be appreciated.

The Karelia iMedia Browser is an Application. Start it like any app.

It's NOT a web browser, but a way of accessing Media - that is photos aetc. in iPhoto and other apps. If you want to get a pic wthout starting iPhoto, find it in the iMedia Browser and drag it to where you want it.

As to the 'Attach' Window.

In any web browser, when you go to upload a file, you click on a button to select the file you want to upload: That button may be called Attach, or Browse, but it doesn't matter. When you click that button a window drops down from the main application window. Drag the file from the iMedia Browser to that window. Result: Attached file.

Hi Hope -

I just upgraded to a new iMac and am having the same problem with Snapfish. The thing is that I didn't have the problem with my old mac and the old operating system - it worked just fine and all of my picture files showed up with no problem. It's apparently some issue between Leopard and Snapfish.

Part of the problem may be that when I go to finder I can't easily see my picture files listed (what's modified, what's original) they way they used to be. In order to open iPhoto in a column manner I need to "Show Package Contents" instead of just clicking on it like a normal folder.

Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

Your difficulty is not because you changed OS, but because you upgraded iPhoto. With v7 the old iPhoto Library Folder is now a Package File. The change was made to the format of the iPhoto library because many users were inadvertently corrupting their library by browsing through it with other software or making changes in it themselves. There really is no way around this. Have you checked with Snapfish for an export plug-in for iPhoto 7? Other than that:

There are three ways (at least) to get files from the iPhoto Window.

1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.

2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.

3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

To upload to MySpace or any site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.

This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. If you're using Gmail you can use THIS

If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.

If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser. Or, if you want to access the files with iPhoto not running, then create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use THIS

Also, for 10.5 users: If you use the extended Open or Attach dialogue (with Column View) you can scroll to the bottom of the Shortcuts and find the Media browser there. Select any pic you want from there.
