Cannot connect to personal secure Wi-Fi

I just bought a wireless router and can connect via Wi-Fi, but when I turn the password option on, my iphone says 'unable to join network'. And yes, I am entering my password. Has anyone else had this problem or have any ideas on what to do?

Your'e iPhone remembers the previous settings for the Wi Fi network. So if you change something then click the "blue circle arrow thingie" and choose "Forget this Network". Your iPhone will then find the network again in the previous "Choose a Network" screen. Click the name of the secure network and the password prompt should appear. Enter the password and you should be now connected to the secure ntework.

This one had me stumped - until I bit the bullet and pressed "Forget this Network".

Hello Bubby9696

Please forgive the Copy and Paste here. But I am relaying the same information to you that I posted for another user. This should better assist you and everyone here based on the answers we get back and any information you get on your end. Let us know how this goes.

So that I can better assist. I do have some questions but I am also listing some troubleshooting steps.

What kind of router do you have? example: Linksys, Airport Extreme, Netgear, etc.

Troubleshooting:

In some cases I have found if the router is Broadcasting in Mixed Mode with a Security Enabled it does pose some issues.

I have found if you keep security on, and make sure the Broadcasting Mode is G only vs Mixed that there seems to be a higher success rate.

Please keep in mind if you choose G only, Then only G Devices can connect but that will be the fastest Speed. Most modern day WiFi Devices Support B/G connections so they will operate weather your on B only, G only, or B/G together. In this case I would like to see you try G only.

Please consult your Router manufacture for assistance on this if you are unsure how to make this happen.

Now as far as security goes.
Recommended if you use WEP. To use WEP 128 bit. This will give you a 13 character maximum password.

also you can use WPA/WPA 2 Personal with an 8 character or longer password.
I suggest anytime you change settings on the router, To do the following on the iPhone.

Settings-WiFi- if your network is listed and has a check-mark tap on the Blue circle. And tell it Forget This Network.

Now go to Settings- General-Reset-Reset Network Settings and Confirm. This will wipe out anything that might of been associated with older changes.
Let me know how this works
