Setup for MSN dialup connection

A friend is switching from PC to iMac and uses MSN dialup as his ISP. Does he have to know his IP address before setting up the iMac to run on the internet?

Are there any other things he should know before starting so he doesn't get stuck without internet when he pulls the plug on his PC?

iMac G5, Mac OS X (10.5), 500 GB internal and 320 GB external hard drive with Leopard

Generally, all you'd need to know are the local dialup number and the credentials (msn email address/or it could be just the part before "@msn.com" and password) . The Mac should obtain an IP address as well as the DNS addresses automatically after authentication.

Mail is the other issue with MSN, if he uses the web based hotmail or live.com website to check mail it should be fine.
