Why iPhones selling for more on Ebay

I can't understand why people are paying/bidding more on Ebay than what is for sale on Apple site. Must be some crazy reason I suspect.

Well I bought my iPhone off e-bay some 2 months back well before the official launch in the UK. At the time all I wanted was a phone and ipod combined and it has been working perfectly on Orange Pay as You Go. Alot of people out there might not want to go over to 02 on a contract and aren't particularly bothered with having the internet etc on their phone. I have since bought another iPhone on 02 now its been launched in the UK. People are more than happy to pay a little more for an unlocked phone if it means they can have an iPhone without a contract. Its their choice and to say those people are suckers is rubbish.

So enlighten me please and say why those consumers are in the dark?

Again, because an unlocked phone gets no support from Apple, in some cases not even warranty support. That is something I'd guess that many purchasers of these unlocked phones don't know, and won't know until they go to Apple for assistance and are told "sorry, we can't help you" by which time it's too late.
