Remapping record identifiers error message

Hi,

Recently I have not been able to sync my iPhone to my laptop. The error message I get is: "iTunes could not sync mail accounts to the iPhone...because an error occurred remapping record identifiers."

Is the only solution to reset my iPhone?

Thanks for your help. I'm stumped!

I was experiencing this same error and reset my sync history. When I relaunched iTunes, the "mail accounts" area was blank, and it remains that way. I've since completed a couple of syncs, but nothing's changed. I don't know if my mail is being synced now, or how to proceed. Any ideas would be appreciated! Thanks.

On the next sync, try going into the info tab in itunes and uncheck sync email accounts.
Then click apply in the bottom right corner.
Close itunes and disconnect the iphone.

Now open isync in your applications folder.
Open the isync preferences.
Reset sync history.

Once sync history is reset, you can try opening itunes, connect the iphone and try syncing again.
If the error still occurs, you can leave the option to sync accounts to the iphone unchecked since this does not mess with sending or receiving mail on the iphone.

Hope this helps.

I had the same problem (error message) but with my calendar (instead of e-mail).

I tried what you suggested and it did sync without any errors, but syncing takes forever and ends up not syncing after all (entries on my iPhone do not show up in iCal).

Also, even after the syncing is done, the little rotating arrows in the menu bar are still rotating and SyncServer is taking 50-100% CPU -- hours later!

If 10.5.2 does not fix this, I will end up deleting all my calendars and trying to restore from an iCal backup.

I read in another post...a much simpler "solution" to this problem. It worked for me as well as a few others. Before you sync...go to the info tab. Down at the bottom is says that during the next sync it will basically overwrite the information on the iPhone. I selected mail...since that was the error to begin with...and synced. Did fine...ran a normal sync to be safe and I'm back up and jogging. Thanks guys...
