Canadians: iPod touch can't connect to datavalet wifi in Air Canada lounges

OK this is frustrating. I normally have little or no problem getting my iPod touch to connect to wifi networks. However, I have consistently been unable to get them to connect to the datavalet wifi network in various Air Canada business lounges across Canada. THat is, it won't work in Halifax, Toronto, Montreal, or Vancouver. I tried resetting to another DNS as has been suggested with no help.

Finally, I got my MacBook Pro out and looked at its network settings (as it never has a problem joining network) and noticed the IP address was wrong for my iPod touch compared to the MacBook. Once I manually entered in the correct IP address the iPod was able to join up. Is there anyway I can fix it so I don't have to get out my MacBook ?

I'm not arguing about the need for 802.1X support, but I now think the Datavalet problem isn't due to that lack. When I posted above, I was not sure if was is only a re-direction problem with Safari, or whether it was an 802.1X access control matter. I just thought to check my wife's MacBookPro, which has Datavalet listed amongst her preferred networks in the Advanced pane for Airport in the Network System Prefs - for security it shows 'none' rather than 802.1X (or WPA Enterprise, as it is sometimes called). Looking in her keychain, it is a simple webform with a username and password that gives her access with the MBP. So it sounds like Datavalet, or their parent company Travelnet, need to ensure their routers redirect iPods and iPhones to a log-in page.

The excellent Brian Goodman from Datavalet support has replied:

"Hello Mr. Moss,

We have been upgrading all the DataValet locations with the configurations
required to be compliant with all the new network devices from Apple. The
service will work on your iPod touch for your next visit.

Thank you,
Brian

Perhaps someone due to travel soon can confirm that this is now working?
