Hi. Robbie, I'm confused. Are you saying that Elizabeth should not try to install 9.2.2 on her 9600 at all - or that the problem is with her Sonnet G3 upgrade card? Because I've been running 9.2.2 on my 9600 (tho with a XLR8 G3 upgrade) & a PM7300 (no upgrade) very solidly and speedily for over a year and a half, as has my sister on her old Umax 600e (no G3 upgrade at all).
Elizabeth, I'm not sure why you got that error message (unless it's a Sonnet firmware problem), but the basics are that: 1) you need a minumum of 9.1 already installed. 2) you need to have a copy of the 9.2.1 & 9.2.2 installers/upgraders on your hard drive (called "Mac OS 9.2.1 Updater.smi" & "Mac OS 9.2.2 Updater.smi" - downloadable from Apples' website) - best if they are out on your desktop. 3) open the Os 9 Helper application, then beginning with "Install Mac OS 9.2.1, click "begin installation" - going thru each choice shown. (They recommend that you do not reboot between each installation - but to complete each step, then reboot with extensions off, and rebuild your desktop - "Command + Option + P + R " while starting up).
Below is a link to Os Helper, with the complete installation instructions. You might also want to go to Sonnets' site to see if they have a firmware upgrade for the G3 card.
