Iphone/Pioneer bluetooth

Yeah me too - my Pioneer won't automatically connect to my iPhone, but it used to connect automatically fine with my old Sony Ericsson phone.

Maybe someone out there knows of a hack so that you can set bluetooth to be always discoverable?

The iPhone doesn't have the ability to transfer contact details via Bluetooth.
The only function enabled via Bluetooth is the ability to use a headset.
Maybe in a future firmware update this may be implemented.

My iPhone transfers my contacts via bluetooth to my mom's BMW 535i without a problem, so it is definitely capable.

I hope you can resolve this issue because I am interested in the D3 myself and wanted it to transfer my contacts along with hopefully transferring video through the dock connection which I'm sure is wishful thinking.

I've been looking at getting an AVIC-D3. I was wondering since now the iPhone supports video out, is it possible to play video on the D3 using the iPod connector?

I've heard that it is possible, but I haven't tried it yet (my cable hasn't arrived). However I've heard that the trick is to start video playback, then plug the iPhone into the head unit. I'm curious to know if it works.

However I think it's a bit ridiculous that the iPhone can't hook its address book up with the D3. That's my big complaint right now. The handsfree works flawlessly. Always auto-connects, always sounds good, no complaints from whomever I'm speaking with.

Did you have to do anything to have the iPhone connect automatically? Mine connects automatically when I receive a call, but not when I turn the car on and want to place a call.

I'm having the same problem. The phone doesn't connect when I turn on the car. The Treo 650 used to do it. I think it has to do with the fact that the Phone isn't always in "Discoverable mode" just when you go to the bluetooth page in the "settings" This i'm sure is called "improved battery life" by apple. But I wish they would allow the option for Iphone Users to allow their Iphone to periodically try to automatically connect to anything within range that is in the "trusted devices" list (like the Treo did) rather than expect all the peripherals to be the ones that constantly try to connect, THIS IS A PROBLEM, APPLE. PPPLEEEEAAAASSSE Fix this!!!

I'm having the same auto-connect issue with my new 16GB model and a Pioneer DEH-P9800BT. It will only auto-connect if i'm in the Bluetooth settings page on the iphone, or if I go into the deck's options and manually tell it to connect to phone1 (which is set to the iphone). I had no issue with my 1.5 year old samsung cell. I also have not been able to transfer my phone book entries.

I'm using a Pioneer 7900 Bluetooth radio and I can make outgoing calls thru bluetooth with my iPhone, but I cannot receive calls thru bluetooth on the Pioneer with my iPhone for some reason.

I still get the call, but it only goes to my iPhone and does not go through the speakers like it should with the pioneer bluetooth.

Also, in case this applies to anyone else, I had problems having my pioneer recognize my iPhone after pairing at first, but then I read the manual and the issue was that I had to register the iPhone with the radio. It was just another part of the setup process; after that, the pioneer 7900 always recognized my iPhone successfully.

Cant say it's not w/the phone, but my Pioneer AVIC-D3 will not transfer w/a Motorola Razor V3m. Then tried a Macbook Pro both as to the avic-d3 as a bluetooth headset and as a bluetooth headphone. No go with either. My guess it's the Pioneer BTB200 bluetooth unit -- b/c have never read about anyone getting it to work on the avic-d3. But w/o a bluetooth analyzer, no way to determine. Anyone have any bluetooth tools to offer?

I have had the AVIC-D3 through three seperate cell phones (4 if you count my wifes). The bottom line is - it's not the iPhone that's the problem, it's the AVIC-D3. My wife has a Mini Cooper and every cell phone we have had connects to the bluetooth - no problems. All also downloaded the phonebook - no problems. The only problems we have had with it is that Windows Mobile phones sound like garbage on the bluetooth connection. The AVIC-D3, on the other hand, is a major dosappointment in the bluetooth department. Windows Mobile phones will not work with it at all (this is a known issue although you will not find it on the Pioneer site). And the iPhone, while being the first to be able to connect automatically, cannot download the phonebook to the AVIC-D3. By the way - firmware 1.1.4 fixed the Garmin bluetooth connect/disconnect issues. Bottom line - skip the AVIC-D3!

OH, for those of your looking to connect the iPhone to the AVIC-D3 ipod connector - DON'T. They are not compatable!

I was having the same problem. Have you tried adding the iPhone as one of the Pioneer's preferred devices? Once I did that, it started connecting automatically. I've also heard that clearing your recent calls list, and turning off address book syncing helps.

That can't be true since I can transfer the phone book from my iPhone to a TomTom 910 no problem. For some reason the AVIC-D3 does not like to talk to the iPhone. The other Blue Tooth function 100% perfect

Did you register the phone with the AVIC-D3?? Once the D3 as connected to your phone you need to go to register phone so that the D3 remembers it. I just bought one last week (D3 that is) and it works flawless so far
