456 on keypad not working

When I try to press any of these buttons either the number on top or the number on the bottom of the actual number registers. For example, when I try to enter 6 I get either 3 or 9.

I've wiped off the display, and I've restarted more than once, but nothing works.

Anyone else see this?

My wife and I have had three iPhones develop this problem (makes you wonder how "rare" the problem really is...). Two of them had the whole bottom half stop responding and one of them had the same area that you're describing go bad. It's a well-known and documented issue. There's no fix or workaround. Take it to an Apple Store and they'll replace it for you on the spot.

Don't forget to make a reservation before you head in or they may turn you away if you just walk in and they're booked up.

Rather than going through all of the gyrations that are being offered to you I would take the iPhone back to an Apple Store, if close enough, and have them make an educated analysis of your iPhone situation.

If there is no store close by, call AppleCare and have them send you a loaner while they diagnose the problems on the device.

You do not need guesses with regard to how to solve an already known issue related to dead spots on a rare number of units.

Here was my experience at the Apple store.

I'd signed up for a 4:30 time at the genius bar, so I went to the mall to do my Christmas shopping beforehand.

I walk in at 4:21 and I'm second on the waiting list.
"Linda?"
"Linda?"
"Linda?"
"Paul?"

I explain the situation and the guy says I have a hardware problem where one of the sensors went out causing the whole row to go out. He gets a new phone (not refurb'd, I asked), puts in my sim card, activates it, and hands it to me.

I walked out at 4:27 with a brand new, fully functioning and activated phone. I know it was 4:27 because I was so stunned I had to check my watch 🙂

Great stuff.
