iTunes won't load?

Today I installed the latest version of iTunes on this system, I had no installation errors or anything the whole thing went pretty smooth, but whenever I click the iTunes shortcut to open it, nothing happens.

I can see it in the system process list and I've tried ending it and reopening it again and no luck.

I've reinstalled iTunes and this made no difference.

I've tried this without my firewall running also, nothing.

Any help?

Thanks

I'm out of ideas now.

Me too. : - (

Other than ...

Let's try completely removing iTunes and QuickTime completely from your computer as described in this article in the Apple Knowledge Base.

After downloading and running a fresh copy of the iTunes installer, is there any difference?

If not, all I can suggest for the time being in uninstalling iTunes and QuickTime again and installing an earlier version - your problem, whatever it is, seemingly being connected with your recent upgrade.

The most recent old version available on the Apple Site is iTunes 7.3.2. . (It's the last version that supports Windows 2000 but it also works with XP.)

I tried everything possible. I uninstalled and reinstalled itunes and quicktime several times and no luck. I finally contacted Apple Support line and they ran me thru the process again with no luck. They thought that I had corrupt files and I re-installed some files still with no luck. FINALLY, I was instructed to go into my properties of the Itunes.exe file and low and behold, the problem was the version of Windows that was checked off in the properties section. My ITUNES was reading it for Windows 2000 and of course, I have Windows XP. Thanks for everyones help. Really appreciate

I am having the same problem as a few other people.
I upgraded Itunes and then it no longer loaded. Itunes shows up the in the Window Task Manager under Processes but not in the Applications tab. I have deleted that file SC Info file. I am using Windows XP and it is not looking for any windows in the compatibility section. This problem seems to come up alot, has someone figured out the real cause to the problem yet.
If so please help me.

Wow - still no solution to this issue, eh? I'm having the same problem on my laptop AND my Desktp PC's now. I've covered all the steps outlined herein, rebooted numerous times and even tried the Windows Installer Cleanup - still nothing... it definitely sounds like a compatibility issue to me... perhaps something to do with the recent QT Fixes...?
