Music stops playing and iPod Touch returns to home screen
I was listening to my music and i was on track 68 out of 75 and suddenly, half way through the song, the iPod stopped playing the music and returned to the home menu. I pressed the hold button and on the bar at the top before I unlocked it, it displayed the name of the song that was playing before it stopped, however, I could not find the Now Playing button anywhere, nor would the iPod recognise that it was supposed to be playing that song so I had to select a new song.
Has anyone else had this problem or know a solution or even a reason why it does this?
Help appreciated.
Thanks.

I'm having the same problem...music stops playing at least 3-4 times in the middle of a song. I've held the button at the top of the iPod for 5 seconds and turned it off. I've gone through the 'restore' process and it still stops playing.
I recently bought an iPod touch 3G and I haven't had this issue happen since. It must be with the earlier models that had a slower processor or something similar.
I was having the same problem many here are reporting (my Touch would randomly stop playing music and return to the music screen). I knew it couldn't be a conversion problem, since I listened to music off of old-school CDs until I finally broke down and got an iPod and have been slowly converting to AAC with iTunes ever since (in short, my library was already 100% AAC). After reading various entries, I tried completely shutting down my Touch (holding the "HOLD" button for several seconds and then sliding the okay slider). I don't know if this cleared out some buffer that was causing trouble, but this seems to have solved the issue.
