iTunes Gift Card -> Apple Gift Card

Greetings Everyone,

I was wondering if someone knew how to convert or apply an iTunes gift card to the Apple retail stores or the Apple online store. Is this possible?

Thanks in advance!

Running into the same problem here seems like a bit of a hard line deal they are running there. It really seems weird that a company would divide up its gift cards like that. If I buy a gift card for Outback Steakhouse they have no problem with me using it at Carrabba's. I really dislike Apple's handling of these gift cards and hope no one is foolish enough to buy another one when you can do the credit based stored value cards that are so much more versatile.

I agree... It's a crappy policy. As I've written elsewhere in this forum, the iTunes gift card is the only item in the Apple universe that can't be exchanged for store credit.

The worst thing about my situation is that my mother thought she was buying me an Apple Store gift card--maybe her confusion has something to do with the fact the gift cards are housed [together] with the Apple gift cards [in the same display containers] in front of the Apple Store registers.

I was absolutely amazed when the store staff read me the legal fine-print on the back of the card. It states that all sales of gift cards are final. I'm thinking... Wait a second. Am I in the right store? This is the APPLE Store, right? INCREDIBLE...

Bad comparison since the iTunes store is not a Brick and mortar store and deal in very different items on a completely different system.

I don't think it's a bad analogy at all. Apple is a single company, with a single balance sheet that combines all sales from the iTunes Store and it's other divisions. What's the difference whether a sale is logged at the Apple Store, the online site, or the iTunes Store? It's all the same when it hits the "revenue" line in the annual report.

No can do. Even stupider, is that you can't purchase songs from iTunes with an Apple gift card!

Sadly, I would also advise against the apple giftcards purchase through the online store. My dad bought one for me over the holidays. When he purchased it, it said it would be received in 3-5 days, and about three weeks later it had still not arrived. When he called to get it canceled or reissued, apple told him someone would have to call him back to complete the transaction and they never did. I subsequently received the card, but the whole experience left him jaded with apple sales support.
