Macbook Pro Audio line in stopped working after Leopard install

Anyone know what's up with this? Since I installed Leopard (did an erase and install) my audio line in port isn't working although my built-in microphone is. Ideas? I haven't found a solution so far from my searches.

My line -in stopped working on my MacBook Pro when I installed Leopard. It worked fine under Tiger, which kind of puts the lie to the "Oh, it doesn't support unpowered mics." answer.

I just tried Rogue Amoeba's Linein app, and it didn't change a thing. Still zero output through the mic. Mic works fine plugged into the USB adaptor, but the sound quality *****. Input through a Cardo bluetooth headset works, but volume level is very low.

I'm having same problems with my MBP (Leopard 10.5.2), my microphone worked fine with my Line-IN (mainly Skype usage) until I installed my Jawbone bluetooth headset after that it doesn't work. Also using LineIN software it doesn't work.I'm seeing activity (graphicallly) only when I plug / unplug it...it's only rumor but I'm seeing it. How is possible solve it ? It's not an hardware issue is an os problem...I'm pretty sure. any help will be very appreciated....Great if it'll be from Apple ! Thanks Paolo.

I have a similar problem.
It occured a few days ago, my audioline stops working, but now no headphones were plugged in and no sound came from my boxes in my macbookpro.

I fixed the problem with pluggin in a heaphone and plugged it back out.

I'm running leopard since november 2007 now, and it's the latest bug from a very very long list!

I'm using apple for over 4 years now, but I am not happy!

I just got off the phone with tech support. We tried a number of things first, PRAM, repairing permissions. No change in using my mic/headphone set. Then we tried connecting my sansa mp3 player into the line in and it read that signal. Not the mic headphone set though. I never imagined a piece of hardware like a headset mic would be OS specific, but it looks that way. So I suggest trying a bunch of different devices into the line in to see what it likes.

Same problem. Bought my 2.4GHz MacBook Pro few months ago. Got some Logitech HeadSet. They worked perfectly until last week, and now only my internal mic works.
I know the Line in only supports self powered mic, but from the hardware point of view, IF IT WORKED BEFORE IT SHOULD WORK NOW.
WHY CANT WE GET A SIMPLE MIC TO WORK ON A 2k+ LAPTOP? I DONT THINK EVEN VISTA HAS ISSUES LIKE THIS.
